The burning question as the most recent episode of "Survivor: Kaoh Rong" kicked off? Would the beauty, brains and brawns reunite with their original tribes? Yeah...not so much. The brains side found themselves on the outside when Debbie tried to take control of everything. And why wouldn't she? Here at BookMaker.eu she couldn't be more of a longshot, looking at +2500 odds!
Meanwhile, Jason and Scot took control of the beauty/brawn group — because the popular guys don’t date the brains, as misogynist Jason put it. He also found out that Tai had an idol and knew that meant they could combine theirs for the “super idol.” Neal also had one and he shared that with Aubry. So together, they could fight back.
For those of you interesting in coughing up a few books (why else would you be here?), Neal is on the board sitting pretty at -130, the odds-on favorite. Tai trails significantly at +850 and Aubry is a million miles away at +5000.
The challenges weren't the focal point of this episode, as is often the case. It was an attrition challenge that Nick eventually won, but was really the footnote.
Brains spent much of the episode scrambling to get numbers while Debbie was annoying everyone by being overbearing about it. Finally the swing former Beauty members decided to side with Scot and Tai in the Brawn alliance. Their plan was to scare out Neil's immunity idol and vote out Aubrey before picking off Brains members one-by-one. Solid plan, it would have worked -- but then there was a surprise arrival at the beach from Jeff. Scot is way out there with +5000 odds.
Medical personnel was there to take a look at everyone's wounds and make sure they weren't infected. Everyone was banged up a little, but generally OK -- then they got to Neal's knee.
Neal was calm but the wound was so infected and so close to the joint there was risk he could have had serious lifelong damage done to his leg, so Neil was pulled.
Neal legitimately loved Survivor. It's a lousy break, no pun intended. However, this positioned Scot and Tai perfectly. Now brains knows they're screwed and to make matters worse, Neal took the immunity idol with him. Neal's exit also allows someone else to move into the "favorite" slot.
Cydney looks prime, at least on the lederboard, with +330, but she's not making enough noise during the challenges.
Jason hadn't been as badass as he thought; he was the third eliminated. And if you thought beauty was week, you were wrong; the final three were OG beauty members: Tai, Nick and Julia. However, as noted, it was Nick who became the first winner. Aubry was put on antibiotics.
This all added up to no tribal council to boot. Aubry did not get the idol and she was none too happy about it. “The idol went home with Neal,” she complained. “That son of a bitch. Really. Neal left me hanging.” She then went on to compare Survivor to getting dysentery and dying. And in a season like this, maybe she’s not that far off.
Maybe no Tribal Council saved Aubry. Or maybe it saved someone from Brawn due to the idol being used. We’ll never know for sure what Neal would have done at Tribal Council with his idol. That's the beauty of snuffing the flames of hope.
