"The Bachelor" went south of the border Monday night, with Ben and his babes (aka the 11 remaining bachelorettes) traveling to Mexico City.
Following their arrival, mom-of-two Amanda landed the first one-on-one date. In an awkward moment, Ben decided to interrupt the ladies while they were sleeping in an effort to - presumably - sweep Amanda off her feet. As if any real effort is necessary.
Ben and Amanda went on a hot air balloon ride over some ancient ruins. Later, she discussed her ex-husband, detailing how their marriage fell apart. Ben listened intently, and then gave her a rose.
On the group date, nine women joined Ben for Spanish lessons, only to later be divided into teams for a cook-off. Olivia continued to agitate the other bachelorettes (thereby entertaining those watching at home, and at "Bachelor" viewing parties) by pairing with Ben for the cook-off.
Speaking of those watching at home, on this food-themed group date, Ben told the TV audience that he’s no longer the “Bachelor;” He’s the “Spachelor.” No, I'm serious. Has there been one bachelor in this show's history who wasn't totally corny?
Jubilee and Lauren B were declared winners. But, unexpectedly, Ben sent Jubilee home at the cocktail party. The reason wasn't all that clear; it appeared as if she wasn't being zany or manic enough.
At one point during the group date, he had a somewhat tense conversation with her. She expressed her feeling that they've somehow grown apart (even though they've known each other a Hollywood minute), and he was concerned by her behavior, saying it seemed that she was "pulling back." With that, he said goodbye to her and she went home.
Following the elimination, Olivia was given the group date rose.
Lauren H. was invited to the second one-on-one date. They met Mexican fashion designer Pineda Covalin, who invited them to his show for Mexico City’s Fashion Week. They were even given the opportunity to walk the runway.
At the cocktail party, Emily broke down in tears as she expressed to Ben how difficult it has been to get along with Olivia. Olivia noticed their interaction and moved quickly to interrupt the two.
Despite Olivia's best efforts, the complaints against her snowballed, and the episode ended on a cliffhanger, with Ben pulling her aside for a chat. We'll find out what happens Monday night on ABC.
I wouldn't bet on Olivia being expelled. Not just yet anyway. I see her being evicted with maybe 2-3 episodes of the season left to air. As for front-runners, I don't really see one yet. And that's because I don't think our boy Ben does either.Need to fund your account before the big night but don’t have your computer?
