Just in time for summer - a new season of "The Bachelorette!" And that is not faux enthusiasm - I mean it. To a degree anyway.
JoJo Fletcher, semi-hot off a dumping via "Bachelor" Ben Higgins, is the one looking for love this time around on the ABC hit, with filming having just recently completed. The 25-year-old has her work cut out for her from the looks of things, too.
There are 26 eligible bachelors. Among these lustful men are former pro quarterback Jordan Rodgers (brother to Green Bay Packers’ quarterback and Olivia Munn boyfriend Aaron Rodgers), a "hipster" from Los Angeles, and an erectile dysfunction specialist from Nashville, to name but a few.
Early promos inadvertently (or intentionally) revealed that JoJowill get serenaded by contestant James Taylor and R&B group All-4-One at one point, thanks to DJ Wells. Nick B. arrives in a full-on Santa suit while Luke strategically trades in his limo ride for a "unicorn" — a nod to JoJo telling Ben, again, where we first laid eyes on her, that she was "looking for her unicorn." Oh, and Vinnythe barber stumbles through his first night.
There is also 31-year-old veteran Luke, 28-year-old luxury real estate agent Chad Johnson, whose name makes him sound like he's a...well, you know, and 26-year-old telecom consultant Christian.
Rumor has it that Chad first hinted to a bad-boy persona when ABC launched his bio page. When asked about his greatest achievement to date, the 6-foot-2 luxury real estate agent said, "Being born good looking." His reply for who he admires most in the world? "Myself in 10 years, alright, alright, alright." Ugh. But it works; there will be those who root for him, and those who do despite knowing better.
Also rumored: On the first night, JoJo gets surprised by a familiar face when a mystery "former Bachelor" steps out of the limo and lures her way, as seen in previews, plus in a statement released by ABC. Whether or not he sticks around beyond the first night remains to be seen.
Clips taken from the rest of the season show that JoJo is in for at least one heartbreak: "She could be in danger," Robby, 27, tells a fellow contestant, before JoJo is shown in tears saying, "I was in love with him, I was going to spend my life with him ... why is this happening?"
James Taylor, U.S. marine Alex, Robby and Chase can also be spotted on one-on-one dates.
It's too soon to predict a winner, but never too soon to pick out who will be in it for the long haul. I am fairly certain both Luke and Chad will stick around for a while.
