Season 10 of the NBC hit, which made most of its noise last season due to two of the judges hooking up (Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani), marks the return of Christina Aguilera.

The first night of Blind Auditions was loaded with promise. The first contender to take the stage was 23-year-old Paxton Ingram from Miami, who got a three-chair turn: Adam, Blake and Pharrell. Paxton opted for Team Blake.

Next up was Caity Peters, 21, from Long Beach, California. She got the first four-chair turn of the night. Caity picked Pharrell.

Singing third was Nick Hagelin, 28, from Atlanta, Ga., who has a touching backstory, which we discovered when we were introduced to his 2½ -year-old son. Nick said his most important accomplishment was teaching his son to walk without a device. Nick performed “Lost Stars,” a lush ballad Levine contributed to the "Begin Again" soundtrack. He got Blake, Christina and Pharrell to turn around, but not Adam. Despite the fact that Christina turned around first, he chose Pharrell, whom he called the Quincy Jones of his generation.

Mary Sarah, 20, from Richmond, Texas, went retro, belting out Connie Francis‘ “Where the Boys Are,” and got all four coaches to turn their chairs. Then she revealed that she sang with the Oak Ridge Boys– which Blake remembered. So it wasn’t a surprise when she picked him as her coach.

Up next was Mike Schiavo, 21, who moved to Los Angeles from New Jersey six months ago. The first CD he ever bought was Maroon 5. Adam and Pharrell turned, but he went for Levine - obviously.

Bryan Bautista, 23, an usher at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn who auditioned for Season 9 but didn’t make the cut, got Blake and Christina to turn their chairs. He chose Christina, finally putting her in the game.

Former child actress Alisan Porter popped up, too. You might remember her as the star ofCurly Sue. She blew the judges away with her rendition of “Blue Bayou.” Eight years sober, and a mother of two, she picked Christina after they bonded over the fact that they were both onStar Search.

The scorecard for the first night of Season 10 ofThe Voiceis: Team Pharrell: 3, Team Blake: 2, Team Adam: 2, Team Christina: 2.

The first contender of night two was Joe Vivona, 27, from Verona, New Jersey, who got a three-chair turn: Blake, Adam and Pharrell. Joe joins Team Pharrell on the advice of his 95-year-old grandfather.

15-year-old Caroline Burns from Hollis, New Hampshire, was a repeat auditioner. She had tried out for Season 9 and didn’t make it, but returned as Pharrell had urged her to. She went from zero to a two-chair turn: Adam and Blake, with Adam telling her she has improved by leaps and bounds. Caroline joined Team Adam.

Emily Keener, 16, from Wakeman, Ohio, got the only four-chair turn of the night with Elton John‘s “ Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” Pharrell won her over.

Angie Keilhauer, 24, from Marietta, Georgia, was hoping for either Blake or Christina to turn their chairs when she performed Dierks Bentley‘s “ I Hold On.” At first it looked like no one was going to turn, but she ended up with a three-chair turn: Adam, Blake and Pharrell. Angie joined Team Blake.

The final performance of the night was Kata Hay, 28, who moved to Nashville six months ago. She sang “ Redneck Woman” by Gretchen Wilson. It looked as if no one was going to turn because the coaches waited until the last minute. Kata ended up getting a three-chair turn: Adam, Christina and Pharrell. But not Blake. Kata tells Christina she was her first girl crush. They kiss. Christina tells her if she picks her, they can do more of that. It was awkward. Kata was torn between Adam and Christina but she went with Christina. Again, awkward.

The scorecard at the end of night two: Team Pharrell: 6. Team Christina: 5. Team Adam: 5. Team Blake: 4.
