Bowl Game College Football Odds - TCU Horned Frogs vs. Georgia Bulldogs Game Preview

2016-NCAAF-AutoZone-Liberty-Bowl-Betting-Odds

The TCU Horned had a season full of ups and downs, and it resulted in a disappointing .500 regular season finish. They have a tough opponent in the Georgia Bulldogs in the Liberty Bowl and will aim to avoid a rare losing season.

This game is a toss-up by the oddsmakers, but the betting has come in heavy on Georgia to win this game. TCU enters having lost four of six games and will try to exceed expectations in this matchup.

This matchup in the bowl season will take place on Friday, December 30, 2016, at 12 p.m. ET at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee.

Odds Analysis

While this game has been labeled a pick ‘em, the gambling public doesn’t seem to think so. More than 90 percent of the money is coming in on Georgia to win this game.

The scoring total has been deemed too high as more than 77 percent of the money is coming in on the under.

The Bulldogs are 7-5 straight up and have gone 5-7 against the spread on the year. Georgia has covered in three of eight attempts as the favorite this year, and it’s possible the heavy betting on the Bulldogs makes them a small favorite before the game begins.

TCU is 6-6 straight up but just 3-9 against the spread on the season. The Horned Frogs failed to cover in all seven of their home games this year so maybe it’s a good thing this matchup will be at a neutral site.

Player to Watch

KaVontae Turpin -- The TCU wideout is able to change the game in a blink of an eye. He has missed several games due to injury this season but should be healthy and available for this matchup.

Turpin has 30 catches for 295 yards and a touchdown in the receiving game, but was much better last year as a freshman, hauling in 45 catches for 649 yards and eight scores.

He also will get a handful of carries throughout the season, and even if it’s only one or two rushes against Georgia, Turpin has the ability to take it to the house at a moment’s notice. He is averaging 11.6 yards per carry on the season.

Turpin also has a punt return touchdown in each of the past two seasons and is a nice kickoff returner as well.

Matchup To Watch

Georgia running back Nick Chubb vs. the TCU defense -- The Bulldogs’ star running back will eclipse 1,000 yards on the season with 12 more rushing yards. He has surpassed 100 yards in a game four times this year and would love to add another to that list.

TCU’s defense has been hot and cold this year. It limited Texas to nine points two weeks ago but that was sandwiched between a pair of performances in which it allowed more than 30.

If Georgia can get Chubb rolling it will have a good shot at winning.

Free ATS Pick

TCU entered the season with high expectations but fell short of them during a .500 campaign. The Horned Frogs have a lot of young players who will be back in 2017, so this will be a good experience for that group.

However, Georgia looks like it is the better team currently, with a last-second loss to Georgia Tech in the season finale breaking a three-game losing streak. The Bulldogs are the choice of the betting public and they are on the right path.

Georgia should be able to knock off TCU as its defense will play well enough in spots to be the difference.
