College Football ATS Picks - Big 12 Championship Game Game Preview

2017-NCAAF-Big-XII-Championship-Game-preview-Bet-Online

The Oklahoma Sooners can punch their ticket to the college football playoff by taking care of business in the Big 12 Championship Game in Week 15.

The No. 2 Sooners will face the No. 10 TCU Horned Frogs for the second time in three weeks. The Sooners have the edge in this one having already beaten the Horned Frogs once this year. They also have Baker Mayfield and that’s been the driving force behind the Sooners’ 10-1 season so far.

TCU has a record of 10-2 coming into this rematch with wins over Oklahoma State and West Virginia this year. The Horned Frogs have a chance at spoiling Oklahoma’s playoff hopes if they pull off an upset.

This matchup in Week 14 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 7 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium.

Odds Analysis

The Sooners have been rolling this year and are solid favorites to win this game and have a chance at a national championship. The Sooners are getting more than 70 percent of the action to cover the touchdown spread.

The scoring total is high as Oklahoma can really light up the scoreboard. The bettors are all over this total as the “over” is being wagered on more than 93 percent of the time. For those who want to bet the “over” do it soon as it may move up as the game draws closer.

Playoff To Watch

Mayfield -- The Oklahoma quarterback is a heavy favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this season, but his likability took a hit recently after an making an indecent gesture toward the Kansas crowd in his team’s 41-3 throttling of the Jayhawks on November 18th.

For the move, Mayfield was forced to sit out for two plays against West Virginia last weekend. When he entered the game following the brief suspension, he reminded everyone why he is one of the best players in college football right now.

The senior was 14-of-17 for 281 yards against the Mountaineers and led his team to a 59-31 win. He has thrown for 4,097 yards on the season with 37 touchdowns and five interceptions and gives Oklahoma a real edge.

Last Meeting

It was Mayfield who led the Sooners past TCU when these two teams met three weeks ago. He finished 18-of-27 for 333 yards and three touchdowns in Oklahoma’s 38-20 win over the Horned Frogs.

Two of those touchdowns were to Rodney Anderson who finished with five receptions for 139 yards as well as 151 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Anderson’s ability to run and catch the ball makes him a dangerous weapon for this Oklahoma offense.

TCU quarterback Kenny Hill had a strong showing too, finishing with 270 passing yards and a touchdown, but the Horned Frogs defense just didn’t do enough. Finding a way to stop Mayfield remains the biggest problem for TCU, but it’s also something no team has been able to do all season.

Free ATS Pick

The Horned Frogs should make this a more competitive contest this time around but Oklahoma is still too good. Mayfield is one of the best players in football, and there is too much on the line for the Sooners for them to blow this chance.

Take Oklahoma to not only win this game but cover the spread. The “over” is the easy call.

College Football Odds: Oklahoma 38, TCU 28
