The Broncos have long been the heavyweight in the Mountain West but San Diego State is gunning for that crown in 2017. The Aztecs have the home field advantage in this one and the superior team, and therefore is the favorite to take care of business.
However, it would be silly to count out a Boise State program that has a ton of big-game experience and will no doubt be ready to play in this showdown.

The bettors are definitely buying into San Diego State, as the Aztecs are getting more than 87 percent of the action to cover despite being favored by a touchdown. The scoring total is low and the “under” is the more popular choice thus far.
Boise State is a +226 underdog on the moneyline, but if you thought that’s where the bettors are hitting them, that’s incorrect, too, as San Diego State is getting most of the action here as well. The Aztecs are a -275 favorite to win this game outright.

Rashaad Penny against the Boise State run defense. Penny has run for 993 yards and nine touchdowns through the first six games for San Diego State. He is averaging 6.9 yards a carry right now.
The senior back has run for 100 yards or more every game including a season-high of 216 yards against Arizona State on September 9th. He has been the go-to guy behind the San Diego State offense which comes into this matchup averaging 222.8 rushing yards a game.
Boise State has done really well against the run this season, holding opponents to 105.8 yards on the ground per game and held BYU to just 66 rushing yards last week. Still, the Broncos will certainly be tested this week against this dynamic back and whoever gets the better of this matchup will have the edge.

Zero. That’s how many losses each team has so far in conference play. Both are among the best in the Mountain West and each believes it will be in the race by the time the end of the season comes around.
San Diego State is leading the West Division and Boise State is atop the leaderboard for the Mountain Division. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2014 when the Broncos won 38-29.
Boise State went toe-to-toe against No. 20 Washington State in Week 2, losing by a field goal after three overtimes, but suffered an embarrassing loss to Virginia a couple weeks later at home. The Broncos will be eager to bank a signature win against a red-hot team like San Diego State this week.
