Notre Dame is at home and a huge favorite in this matchup as it has the clear talent advantage. A win might be too much to ask of Miami in this one, but a good showing could keep the margin close, which would at least make the bettors happy that back them.
Kickoff for this regular season Week 5 game is set for Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 5 p.m. ET at Notre Dame Stadium.

Odds Analysis
The oddsmakers are putting the pressure on with this line, as Notre Dame will really need to excel in order to cover with a win by more than three touchdowns. Even so, more than 57 percent of the money has gone to Notre Dame to cover this spread, which isn’t a huge surprise considering its massive fanbase.
The scoring total is low for a game with this high of a spread, as Miami could have trouble putting up points. The “over” is the more popular choice, with nearly 64 percent of the action on that side of the coin. There is no moneyline yet, and check back to see if one is released.
Key Stat
19.0. That’s the number of points allowed by Miami of Ohio this year, with Notre Dame even a touch better, giving up 18.5 per game. The Redhawks’ competition hasn’t been too fierce, but their defense is doing a nice job.
In a game against big-school Cincinnati, Miami of Ohio lost just 21-17, and would love to put the same type of scare into Notre Dame. The Redhawks are allowing 310.8 total yards per game giving up 192.0 yards per game through the air and 118.8 on the ground. If they can limit Notre Dame’s passing game, Miami should be in good position to remain close.
The Fighting Irish has not given up more than 20 points in a game this season, and that’s impressive considering two of the opponents were Michigan State and a ranked Georgia squad. Miami does not have a great offense and it could be hard-pressed to score consistently in this one.
Player to Watch
Brandon Wimbush -- Notre Dame’s quarterback has had some good and some bad moments in his first year at the helm. Wimbush has thrown for 664 yards and is only completing 54 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
While those numbers are below average, Wimbush has been extremely impressive on the ground, carrying the ball 57 times for 366 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns.
Miami of Ohio would love to force Wimbush to stay in the pocket, but that is much easier said than done.
Free ATS Pick
Notre Dame has gotten back on track this season with a 3-1 record, and a win should keep the Fighting Irish in the national rankings. The Redhawks are 2-2 on the season and have lost a pair of games by a combined nine points, so they have shown the ability to be competitive.
Notre Dame has the clear advantage, but the lack of a dominant passing game should keep this game reasonable close. Take the Fighting Irish to win this game, but the Redhawks will come away with the cover of the spread. The “over” is the choice as Miami of Ohio should score enough late in the contest in order for the total to get surpassed.
College Football Odds: Notre Dame 37, Miami (Ohio) 17
