The Oklahoma State Cowboys were seen as the second-most likely team to win the Big 12 prior to the start of the season. It’s not hard to find things to like about the Cowboys, they have a fantastic quarterback in Mason Rudolph and one of the best receivers in the country in James Washington. Head coach Mike Gundy is an offensive genius too and can put up points on most defenses. They will look to keep rising in the rankings this week as they take on the South Alabama Jaguars.
This contest in Week 2 of the regular season will go down Friday, September 8, 2017, at 8
p.m. ET at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. This game will be broadcast on ESPN2.

Odds Analysis
For the second time in three seasons, the Cowboys are playing a much lesser opponent at their place in their non-conference schedule. Oklahoma State traveled to Central Michigan back in 2015 and now head to Mobile this week as the first of a three-game series with the Jaguars.
Oklahoma State was extremely impressive in its opener against Tulsa. Rudolph shined despite only throwing the ball 24 times and the Cowboys put things on cruise control after a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. They easily covered the spread against their in-state rivals and the game went over the total by double digits too.
The Jaguars were 22-point underdogs to Ole Miss in their first game of the year. South Alabama hung tough with the Rebels for the first half, only trailing by three at the break, but gave way in the third. Still, they found a way to cover in a game that easily went over the total.
Player to Watch
Washington is a special talent. He went off for 145 yards and two scores in the season opener against Tulsa and showed off the skillset that made him an All-American performer in 2016.
Oklahoma State was fortunate to get him back for one more season as he would have been a likely mid-round pick in this year’s draft. He has blazing speed and will take the top off of any defense he is facing.
He could have a field day against this South Alabama defense. The Jaguars were torched by Ole Miss’ AJ Brown for 233 yards and two scores and he is not nearly the receiver that Washington is. If this game stays close, he will probably have a 200-yard performance against an inexperienced secondary.
Matchup to Watch
The Jaguars had some decent success running the ball against the Rebels last week. They picked up 171 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and were able to burn some clock in the first half against an Ole Miss team that wants to go, go, go.
South Alabama has two quality linemen in center Dominic Esposito and left tackle Noah Fisher. The Jaguars were able to move the ball in big chunks last week and will look to run behind these two big bodies. Oklahoma State will likely be a little sore after Tulsa ran the ball on this front 60 times last week and the Jaguars might be able to have some success on the ground.
Free ATS Pick
Oklahoma State has a tough game on the road against Pittsburgh next week, but won’t sleepwalk through this one. The Cowboys did the same thing against Central Michigan at this point in the year last season and ended up suffering a stunning loss to the Chippewas.
Instead, Oklahoma State will put its foot down early and not give South Alabama a chance to get back in the game. Rudolph will carve up the secondary as the Cowboys win in a rout.
College Football Odds: Cowboys 52, Jaguars 17
