The Oklahoma State Cowboys just saw their chances to win the Big 12 take a big hit after a loss to TCU last week. Oklahoma State came into the game ranked in the Top 10 and was seen as the team with the best shot to knock off Oklahoma, but instead got reverse covered. The loss means that the Cowboys can’t afford to slip up the rest of the season. That means Okie State better be on its toes when it heads into Lubbock to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
This contest in Week 5 of the regular season will go down Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 8
p.m. ET at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas. This game will be broadcast on FOX.

Odds Analysis
This has been one of the most high-scoring series in the country over the past four seasons. Each of the past four meetings has finished with at least 80 points and the over has hit five times in a row. Unfortunately for Texas Tech, it has failed to cover in four years and hasn’t won in this series since Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree were on campus.
Oklahoma State covered its first three games with ease before falling to TCU last week. Unsurprisingly, the Cowboys have seen three of their four games go over the total thanks to an offense that is one of the best in the nation.
As for Texas Tech, the Red Raiders also have one of the top scoring offenses in the country. However, they have also played a little defense this year and that has led to a 3-0 start SU and ATS with two of their three games going way under the total.
Matchup to Watch
Coming into this season and before last week, you would have thought that Oklahoma State had a big advantage on defense. Texas Tech has been atrocious on defense during the Kliff Kingsbury era, finishing in the bottom 10 or 20 every year. However, this year the Red Raiders seem to have improved. Although the passing defense is still giving up a ton of yards, the run defense has been relatively strong, ranking 39th in the country in yards per game.
This defense will face a tall test in Oklahoma State though. The Cowboys are certainly mad after their performance last week and Mason Rudolph will be looking to make amends. Oklahoma State doesn’t typically run Justice Hill all that much, but might in this game.
Player to Watch
It’s hard to highlight anyone other than James Washington here. Washington has been electric this season and the Cowboys must be thanking their stars that he decided to stay for one more year.
Washington is second in the country in receiving yards with 520 yards this season, but where he stands out is his playmaking ability. He has four touchdowns through the air this year and is averaging a mind boggling 27.4 yards per reception. No one in the country is even close to him in the latter category and it shows what a talent he is down the field.
Free ATS Pick
Oddsmakers are expecting a shootout. The total in this one is 81 and that is the highest total on the board this weekend. Both teams love to chuck it around the field and it wouldn’t be a shock to see this one sail over.
As for a side, it’s not a great idea to back double-digit road favorites, but Texas Tech has been fortunate this year. The Red Raiders aren’t as good as people think, while the Cowboys will be looking to prove something. Oklahoma State is going to put the pedal to the metal and won’t let up in a big win.
College Football Odds: Cowboys 55, Red Raiders 38
