College Football ATS Picks - Oregon Ducks at No. 12 Washington Huskies Game Preview

The Washington Huskies sit in 12th place in the first unveiling of the College Football Playoff ranking. If they have any hope of making it into the national semifinals, they may have to win out. They have a winnable game coming up in Week 10 when they host the Oregon Ducks.

Oregon started the year quickly but has been poor in Pac-12 play and will be hard-pressed to win this one. The Huskies are in contention for the Pac-12 North title and it seems like a conference championship is a necessity as they aim to stay in contention for a national championship.

This contest in Week 10 of the regular season will go down Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 10 p.m. ET at Husky Stadium.

Odds Analysis

Washington is a heavy favorite in this game based on its play all year and the Ducks’ recent swoon. The bettors believe in the Huskies’ ability to pull off the rout as more than 57 percent of the action is on Washington to cover.

The scoring total is pretty low for a college football game, especially one featuring Oregon. The “over” is the more popular choice. The moneyline lists the Ducks as +664 underdogs, and they are getting a good amount of action on such a lucrative line. Washington is the -1000 favorite.

Key Stat

369.6. That’s how many yards per game Oregon’s defense is allowing so far this season with a unit that ranks among the worst in the nation. The Ducks will have their hands full this weekend with a Washington offense that is averaging 408.3 points per game.

Oregon, of course, will also have its traditionally high-powered offense in tow as well but the fact that the team has been so weak on defense could present a real problem in this matchup. The Ducks have been particularly bad against the pass this year, allowing 253.7 yards in the air each game and Washington’s Jake Browning will look to take advantage of that.

Oregon has not fared well against ranked opponents this season either. Allowing a combined 82 points and 873 total yards in losses to No. 11 Washington state and No. 23 Stanford in October.

Player To Watch

Myles Gaskin — Washington’s premier running back is coming into this game against Oregon off another big performance last week. He ran for 169 yards on 27 carries with one touchdown in the Huskies 44-23 win over UCLA.

Gaskin averaged 6.3 yards a carry against the Bruins in that victory. The game marked the third time this season where the junior has ran for more than 100 yards in a game.

His best performance this season came against Colorado on September 23rd where Gaskin accumulated 202 yards on the ground on 27 carries with two touchdowns. He’s been a consistent playmaker for the Huskies since his freshman season and is certainly a player to watch in this matchup, especially against a defense that has struggled this mightily.

Free ATS Pick

Washington has left itself no room for error as the regular season hits its stretch run. This team is very talented and has the capability to win out and can’t afford any hiccups.

The Huskies aren’t guaranteed a spot in the College Football Playoff even if they win out but their goal will be to do so and see where the chips fall. Oregon started the year hot but is now simply trying to qualify for a bowl game.

The Ducks will be outclassed in this one as the Huskies should put up the points and be able to keep the Ducks in check. Take Washington to win this game easily and cover the large spread.
