The fantastic start to the season of the South Florida Bulls was interrupted last time out with their first loss of the season against Houston. South Florida will aim to bounce back when it hits the road to take on the Connecticut Huskies in an American Athletic Conference showdown.
UConn has a pair of conference wins in five tries but the oddsmakers aren’t giving the Huskies much chance at all to emerge victorious in this one, even at home. South Florida needs to win its next two games to set up an important regular season finale showdown with Central Florida, and it should take care of business against Connecticut.
Kickoff for this regular season Week 10 game is set for Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. ET at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.

Odds Analysis
South Florida is a heavy road favorite and he bettors are on board as more than 81 percent of the action is on the Bulls to cover. The scoring total portends a shootout and the “over” is still the more common choice with 71 percent of the action thus far expected 65 points or more in this one.
Key Stat
12. That’s how how many games in a row South Florida had won heading into last weekend’s showdown against Houston. The winning streak dated back to October of last year.
But, with a late comeback led by freshman quarterback D'Eriq King, Houston ended the streak and handed the Bulls their first loss of a season, winning 28-24. The loss sent Houston tumbling out of the national rankings and the team will certainly be looking to rebound against UConn on Saturday.
South Florida’s senior quarterback Quinton Flowers played very well in the contest but it wasn’t enough. He was 23-of-38 for 325 yards and also scored two rushing touchdowns in the loss.
Player To Watch
Bryant Shirreffs —UConn is a big underdog in this matchup against South Florida, but having a quarterback like Shirreffs behind center gives the Huskies a fighting chance. Shirreffs is a pro-style quarterback with the ability to keep his team in games.
He has thrown for 2,154 yards this season with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. He has shown tremendous growth this year, his senior campaign, and boasts a completion percentage of 65 percent.
Shirreffs has thrown for 400 yards or more twice this season, accomplishing the feat in back-to-back games against East Carolina and SMU in September. It will take a lot for the Huskies to find the success Houston did against South Florida last week, but Shirreffs is certainly capable of making the right plays to, at the very least, entertain the idea of an upset.

The Bulls need to bounce back and are hoping a quick turnaround can get them back in the national rankings. South Florida won’t have to sweat out a victory as it is the vastly superior team, but this spread is too high.
UConn has the benefit of the home field advantage as well as a big point spread that they should be able to cover. The Huskies aren’t in the same realm as teams like South Florida and Central Florida, and in all likelihood they won’t make a bowl game this year.
However, UConn can put up enough points to cover this spread and push the scoring total to “over”.
