The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have bounced back from a horrific 2016 season to become one of the best teams in the country in 2017. They are right in the mix to make the College Football Playoff and will likely nab a spot by winning out the rest of the way.
Their next matchup will be a home contest against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Week 10 of the regular season. Wake Forest is a solid team but isn’t at the same level of the Fighting Irish this season and will really need to play well in order to pull off the upset.
Notre Dame has been looking really good of late with wins over ranked foes USC and North Carolina State.

Odds Analysis
Notre Dame is a solid favorite but not an overwhelming one. The bettors think the spread is too low as more than 71 percent of the action is on Notre Dame to cover this spread by winning by more than two touchdowns.
The scoring total is lower than a lot of college football games as both teams have solid defenses. The “over” is the more popular play.
Notre Dame is listed as the -600 favorite while Wake Forest is the +447 underdog. Despite the limited payout, the Fighting Irish are the more popular choice on the moneyline.
Key Stat
Five. That’s how many touchdowns Wake Forest quarterback John Wolford thew last week in his team’s 42-32 win over Louisville. It was a much-needed win for the Demon Deacons, who ended a three-game losing streak with the victory.
Wolford, opposite Heisman winner Lamar Jackson, finished 28-of-34 for 461 yards in the game. Four of his five touchdowns were hauled in by Greg Dortch who had 10 receptions for 167 yards.
The senior quarterback has thrown for 1,660 yards with 15 touchdowns and two interceptions this year. He’ll need another big performance to have a chance in this one.
Player To Watch
Josh Adams — Notre Dame’s junior running back has come out of nowhere this season to land himself in the Heisman conversation. And if November goes anything like October did, he could be on the short list.
Adams leads an offense that is averaging 317.9 rushing yards per game this year. He has amassed 1,169 yards on 132 carries this season with nine touchdowns.
Perhaps most impressively, he is averaging 8.9 yards a carry. In three games in the month of October, Adams totaled 511 rushing yards on 59 carries with five touchdowns.
He has rushed for 100 yards or more in six games this season including a season-high of 229 games against Boston College. This week, Adams could rack up some more big numbers facing a Wake Forest offense that hasn’t been strong against the run.
Free ATS Pick
This one could be close for a while since Wake Forest has a good defense and a capable quarterback. However, the Fighting Irish should have what it takes to eventually pull away and get the win.
This spread is set pretty well but take the Demon Deacons to narrowly cover it as Notre Dame isn’t going to be able to run away with this one offensively. The “under” is the clear choice. Both defenses have been impressive this season and they will both be able to limit the big plays and keep this one lower than most games.
Notre Dame will take another step closer to making it to the national championship playoff but it won’t be easy against a pesky Wake Forest club.
College Football Odds: Notre Dame 30, Wake Forest 17
