The Washington Huskies are proving that last year wasn’t a fluke with every game this season. Washington was dismissed as an also-ran once again this offseason as USC garnered most of the attention from the media, but the Huskies keep winning games. They crushed Colorado last week in their fourth straight double digit win to start the season and seem destined to go undefeated until at least a home game against UCLA. Their next test will come this week when they face the Oregon State Beavers.
Kickoff for this regular season Week 5 game is set for Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 8 p.m.
ET at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon. This game will be broadcast on PAC 12 Network.

Odds Analysis
The Huskies are 2-2 ATS and easily cruised to a win last week against Colorado. Washington barely missed the cover against Fresno State the week before that. This team did have problems getting the big covers against conference foes last year, but they have been very good at covering the large spreads so far this year.
It’s been one step forward and two steps back for Gary Andersen since he came to Oregon State. Andersen probably thought he could at the very least follow the Mike Riley blueprint, but that has failed to happen thus far. The lone win for the Beavers this year came against a winless FCS team and they only beat them by three. Otherwise, they have been hammered by Colorado State, Minnesota, and Washington State, all by at least 29 points.
Player to Watch
Jake Browning continues to look sharp this season. Browning has shaken off his poor performance in the College Football Playoff against Alabama with a very nice start to this year. He has nine touchdown passes and two interceptions so far in 2017 and has been very efficient in all the right ways.
While Browning is not much of an NFL prospect, he has become a solid college quarterback. For the most part, he makes the right decisions with the ball and doesn’t mess up when it comes to who to sling it to. He has a solid running game that helps him out often too.
Key Stat
Oregon State’s defense has been gutted this season. The Beavers are in the bottom five in points allowed and have allowed over 50 PPG on average against FBS opponents this year. The dreadful nature of the defense has been fantastic for bettors though. Oregon State is 0-4 ATS and the over is 4-0 ATS in its games, most going over by at least 10 points.
That defense has definitely been hurt by injuries. Cornerbacks Jaydon Grant and Dwayne Williams are both out for quite some time and linebacker Shemiah Unutoa-Whitson may not be able to play this week as well. Those losses are a big deal for this Beavers defense.
Free ATS Pick
The Huskies are going to win this game, it’s hard to imagine otherwise. Chris Petersen is one of the best motivators in the college game and his guys rarely have letdown games where they lose as a big favorite. However, the cover is a different story. The Beavers did have a week off last week and got some extra time to prepare for how to stop this offense. That definitely matters considering how bad this defense has been this season.
Sadly, Oregon State’s starting quarterback Jake Luton suffered a bad spinal injury against Washington State two weeks ago and probably won’t play the rest of the season. While he is recovering, Darrell Garretson will reassume the starting role. Garretson has familiarity and was the team’s starter last season, but was stripped of the job for ineffectiveness. He will be able to keep it close enough for a Beavers cover though.
