New Year's Six Bowl Games

Florida State vs. Michigan – December 30, 8 p.m. ET

Michigan is still irked about losing to Ohio State and ultimately losing its shot at playing in the Big Ten Championship Game. The team didn't deserve to play in the Final Four though after losing two of its last three games. This isn't a bad spot to land in though, as the Orange Bowl is the site of so many of the biggest games in the history of college football, including Florida State's first National Championship.

Washington vs. Alabama – December 31, 3 p.m. ET

The Crimson Tide are huge favorites here at -14.5, and they immediately have jumped up with no sign of buyback happening yet. Of course, at some point, there will be some Washington money in the first national semifinal, but where does that happen? Is it at +17? +20? We'll find out by the end of the year.

Ohio State vs. Clemson – December 31, 7 p.m. ET

The Buckeyes and Tigers have both been here before, and they both won their first semifinal appearance. OSU is the first non-conference champion to earn a spot in the playoff, but can it make that stick? Clemson is going to be a tough out for sure even though it looked suspect over the course of so much of this season.

Western Michigan vs. Wisconsin – January 2, 1 p.m. ET

The Broncos have bucked the trend and have won the MAC with a spotless record at 13-0. Wisconsin finished second best in the Big Ten, and it finished as the fourth best team in the conference in the final CFP rankings. The Badgers are favorites in this game by a comfortable margin at -7, but this is a tough game to handicap without much in the way of comparable games.

USC vs. Penn State – January 2, 5 p.m. ET

The biggest talk between the Big Ten Championship Game and the release of the College Football Playoff was that Penn State would be "appreciative" of wherever it landed in the bowl games. We'll see whether that talk is backed up with the Nittany Lions ending up in the Rose Bowl instead of the College Football Playoff. The Trojans are favored in this game by a TD because of the way they ended this season, a tremendous accomplishment for a team that had three losses in September.

Auburn vs. Oklahoma – January 2, 8:30 p.m. ET

The Big XII champs never had a shot to get into the playoff this year because of losing in two of their first three games. The Sooners though, are the real deal, especially if Dede Westbrook gets through his concussion before this game. Auburn is representing the SEC as the mandatory entrant for the conference. There's no reason to put the Tigers into the New Year's Six aside from the fact that they have to, but they'll have their chance to put together their worth against the Sooners.
