The Big Ten Conference is strong this year with three teams ranked in the top seven and a total of ten teams that could see bowl action. Michigan leads the conference and is ranked No. 2, followed by Ohio State at No. 5 and Wisconsin No. 7. The Wolverines look unbeatable and have been a pain in the butt for the bookmakers this year covering the spread week after week. Ohio State appears to be the only team that could ruin Michigan’s season and they meet in two weeks. The winner of that game appears to have the inside track to the BCS final four. I can’t see two teams getting in. Wisconsin may also have something to say about it as they should get the nod in the Big Ten West and face the Ohio State, Michigan winner.

Maryland, Indiana, Iowa and Northwestern all have five wins on the year and seven wins is the magic number to go bowling. Minnesota is already bowl eligible. The only four teams that don’t have a chance to see a bowl game are Michigan State, Rutgers, Purdue and Illinois. All other teams have a chance. That is strong!

Last week Michigan won easily against Maryland, Ohio State trounced Nebraska and Wisconsin slid by Northwestern. Penn State dominated Iowa to keep their hopes of a Big Ten crown alive.

Let’s take a look at Week 11 Big 10 games.

BIG 10 GAME OF THE WEEK

Saturday, November 12, 2016

Michigan Wolverines -22 at Iowa Hawkeyes +22, Total 51

Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, Iowa - 8:00 p.m., ET - ABC

All-Time Series Record - Michigan leads 41-14-4

The line for this game opened up with Michigan favored by 18 points and has steadily moved all the way up to -22. The Wolverines should take advantage of Iowa’s inept offense and hold then to 14 points or less. Michigan’s offense is clicking on all cylinders, putting up 50 points every week and should do it again against a banged up, worn down Hawkeye defense. Michigan remains undefeated and wins in Iowa City, 44-14.

Ohio State Buckeyes -29 at Maryland Terrapins +29, Total 57.5

Capital One at Maryland Stadium, College Park, Maryland - 3:30 p.m, ET - ESPN

All-Time Series Record - Ohio State leads 2-0-0

Ohio State had been struggling on offense, but woke up last week and put up 62 points on Nebraska. Maryland can’t stop anyone and the Buckeyes will put up close to 50 points again this week. The Terrapins do have a few weapons on offense and should be able to take advantage of their home field and home crowd to score three touchdowns. The OVER is the play. Ohio State 48, Maryland 20.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights +14 at Michigan State Spartans -14, Total 56

Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, Michigan - Noon, ET - Noon, ET - BTN

All-Time Series Record - Michigan State leads 4-3-0

Michigan State had high hopes entering the season and after beating then highly ranked Notre Dame in their opener, they were on their way, but since then have not won a game and find themselves at the bottom of the Big Ten East at 0-6. They face a Rutgers team that also is 0-6. Something has to give and Sparty will find a way to limit their mistakes and in the end, overpower the Scarlet Knights. Michigan State 38, Rutgers 21.

Illinois Fighting Illini +27 at Wisconsin Badgers -27, Total 39.5

Camp Randall Stadium, Madison, Wisconsin - 3:30 p.m., ET - ESPN2

All-Time Series Record - Wisconsin leads 39-37-7

This game is going to be all Wisconsin. They will grind Illinois into the ground. The Illini will have problems scoring on the stout Badgers defense and costly turnovers will make this game a blowout. Wisconsin rolls, 34-6.

Penn State Nittany Lions -7 at Indiana Hoosiers +7, Total 60

Memorial Stadium, Bloomington, Indiana - Noon, ET - ABC - ESPN

All-Time Series Record - Penn State leads 18-1-0

A big game for both teams. Penn State is in contention to win the Big Ten East after their huge upset against Ohio State and look to have the better athletes in this tilt. Indiana is 5-4 on the year and need two more wins to be bowl eligible. The Nittany Lions own this series winning 18 of 19 games and they will continue by winning this game by double-digits.

Minnesota Gophers +7 at Nebraska Cornhuskers -7, Total 49.5

Memorial Stadium Lincoln, Lincoln, Nebraska - 7:30 p.m., ET - BTN

All-Time Series Record - Minnesota leads 31-23-2

This is a huge game in the Big Ten West. Both teams are tied for the lead and the loser of this game will be on the outside looking in. The Cornhuskers may be without their starting signal caller after Tommy Armstrong was knocked unconscious in last weeks 62-3 loss to Ohio State. Armstrong is day-to-day and the Big Red are preparing to face Purdue with Ryker Fyle as their starting quarterback. Fyle looked terrible when he played and Minnesota should have enough skilled athletes to keep this game close. Take the DOG +7.

Northwestern Wildcats -13.5 at Purdue Boilermakers +13.5, Total 52

Ross-Ade Stadium, West Lafayette, Indiana - Noon, ET - BTN

All-Time Series Record - Purdue leads 50-29-1

Northwestern stands 4-5 on the year and must win out to become bowl eligible. They shouldn’t have any trouble with Purdue this week, although, the Boilermakers have played better since firing their head coach a month ago. Northwestern 32, Purdue 21.
