What a year it was in the Big 10 Conference. Upsets, blowouts and five teams ranked in the final poll of the season. Ohio State and Wisconsin will meet in the Championship game on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Badgers are a perfect 12 - 0 and are currently ranked No. 3 in the BCS standings. The Buckeyes have two losses but still have a chance to reach the final four if they can make a statement this week.
Eight of 14 teams will represent the Big Ten Conference in bowls this year. Purdue beat Indiana to become the last team to earn a bowl bid. Penn State improved to 10 -2 with an easy win against Maryland. Michigan State, Michigan, Northwestern and Iowa all are bowl bound.
Big 10 Championship Game - Saturday, December 2, 2017
Ohio State Buckeyes -6 vs. Wisconsin Badgers +6, Total 53
Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana - 8:00 p.m., ET - FOX
The line opened up with Ohio State favored by 6 and has creeped up to 6.5 with a little early action on the Buckeyes. This is precisely why the bookmakers should come up with the rankings. Wisconsin is the undefeated team, but Ohio State, with two losses, is the betting favorite.
Ohio State starting quarterback J.T. Barrett was injured in the third quarter of last week’s game against Michigan and his status is questionable, but he did say that he vows to play in the big game. My question is, if Barrett isn’t 100 percent, then why not let Dwayne Haskins, Jr., he looked great guiding the Buckeyes to a come from behind win against the Wolverines.
Wisconsin has faced 12 opponents and won every game. Sure, their schedule wasn’t that strong, but still, you have to play the games and they are unbeaten. Their defense is strong, their running game is solid and they don’t beat themselves. They will be ready to play and won’t make many mistakes.
This game is going to go right down to the final whistle and I don’t see a lot of points being scored. Maybe 24 - 21 or even 20 - 17. I like the dog and under. Wisconsin stays unbeaten with a hard fought win and moves on to the BCS Playoffs.
All-time series record: Ohio State 58-18-5
