Week No. 2 is in the books with mixed reviews for the Big 10 Conference. Ohio State was stunned at home by Oklahoma 31-16. Northwestern was pummeled on the road by Duke and Nebraska took it on the chin at Oregon. Those three games were big and all three Midwest schools went down which is not a good sign for the conference.

Elsewhere, Michigan, Penn State, Iowa and Wisconsin all won against superior foes. Minnesota, under first year coach, P.J. Fleck got a big win on the road at Oregon State to improve to 2 - 0. Lovie Smith coached Illinois to a hard fought victory versus Western Kentucky, Michigan State stayed perfect by handling Western Michigan, Purdue knocked off Ohio and Indiana got a big road win at Virginia. Lastly, Maryland won its second game of the year versus Towson and Rutgers lost to Eastern Michigan.

In all, it was not a good week for the conference.

This week the marquee matchups are Wisconsin at BYU, Minnesota hosts a tough Middle Tennessee State team and Illinois travels to Florida to play the Bulls of South Florida.

Illinois Fighting Illini +18 at South Florida Bulls -18, Total 53.5

Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida - 8:00 p.m., ET - ESPN

Lovie Smith has the Illini off to their best start in years and must have some athletes on the defensive side of the ball, pitching a shutout against a high powered Western Kentucky team last week to improve to 2 - 0. Now they face another high octane team on the road. South Florida was projected to win 11 games this year, but didn’t get a chance to play last week due to Hurricane Irma. They may show a few signs of rust and keep Illinois in the game. I’m taking Illinois and the points.

Wisconsin Badgers -17 at BYU Cougars +17, Total 44

LaVell Edwards Stadium, Provo, Utah - 3:30 p.m., ET - ESPN

This line opened up at 14 and quickly moved to 17. BYU has lost both games this year, while Wisconsin remains undefeated. The Cougars play pretty good defense and have home field advantage. This will be a defensive type game, so go ahead and grab the UNDER 44 before it moves.

Army Cadets +30 at Ohio State Buckeyes -30, Total 52

Ohio Stadium, Columbus, Ohio - 4:30 p.m., ET - FOX

The Ohio State offense has looked pathetic thus far to start the year and I know Buckeyes head coach, Urban Meyer chewed his squad out and fixed a few things. Army will find a way to score a few points and Ohio State will come out on fire. This game will be OVER 52 by the end of the third quarter.

Georgia State Panthers +38.5 at Penn State Nittany Lions -38.5, Total 53.5

Beaver Stadium, University Park , PA. - 7:30 p.m., ET - BTN

Nittany Lions have one of the best teams in the country. They play physical on both sides of the ball and will win this game by 40 or more points.

Air Force Falcons +25 at Michigan Wolverines -25, Total 55

Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, Michigan - Noon, ET - BTN

Michigan failed to cover last week versus Cincinnati. This week they will improve on both sides of the ball, come out firing on all cylinders and bury the undersized Air Force squad. Michigan rolls, 49 - 20.

Northern Illinois Huskies +14 at Nebraska Cornhuskers -14, Total 58

Memorial Stadium Lincoln, Lincoln, Nebraska - Noon, ET - FS1

Nebraska fell behind 42-14 to Oregon at halftime and then outscored the Ducks 21-0 in the second half. The mojo will carry over and the Cornhuskers will please their fans with a 21-point win

North Texas Mean Green +21.5 at Iowa Hawkeyes -21.5, Total 54

Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, Iowa - 3:30 p.m., ET - ESPN2

I don’t know anything about the North Texas team but I do know that Iowa is tough as nails at home and even though they gave up 41 points last week, the strength of their team is their defense. The Mean Green will have trouble moving the chains and won’t score more than 14 points. The Hawkeyes will rely on their run game to protect their first year quarterback and churn out a boring 34 - 13 win.

FIU Panthers +25 at Indiana Hoosiers -25, Total 58

Memorial Stadium, Bloomington, Indiana - 3:30 p.m., ET - BTN

The Hoosiers return home after their big win at Virginia and are one of the most improved teams in the country. FIU was off last week because of the hurricane and are no match for the Hoosiers. Indiana cruises 45 - 14.

Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders +10.5 at Minnesota Gophers -10.5, Total 53

TCF Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota - 3:30 p.m., ET - BTN

First year head coach, P.J. Fleck has the Gophers off to a 2 - 0 start and has the whole city fired up. The public will be all over the Gophers - straight, parlayed, teased, but don’t sleep on the Blue Raiders. They have a well balanced, experienced team that will keep this game close. I like the underDOG.

Bowling Green Falcons +22 at Northwestern Wildcats -22, Total 57

Ryan Field, Evanston, Illinois - 7:30 p.m., ET - BTN

Bowling Green is one of the worst teams in the nation and Northwestern is coming off a disappointing loss to Duke where they were never in the game. Wildcats will erupt for 28 points in the first half and win this game by at least 30 points.

Purdue Boilermakers +7.5 at Missouri Tigers -7.5, Total 76.5

Faurot Field, Columbia, Missouri - 4:00 p.m., ET - PPPP

This could be a shootout. Neither team has a defense and both teams like to put the ball in the air and score a lot of points. The game total is 76.5, one of the highest on the board, but don’t let that scare you off the OVER. This game is going to be a track meet. The halftime score will be in the range of 28 - 21, maybe even higher and the game will eclipse 76.5 easily. Take the OVER!

Morgan State Bears at Rutgers Scarlet Knights, NO LINE

High Point Solutions Stadium, Piscataway, New Jersey - 3:30 p.m., ET - BTN2

If Rutgers doesn’t beat Morgan State they should quit playing football. PERIOD!
