BIG 10 GAME OF THE WEEK

Saturday, October 8, 2016

Iowa Hawkeyes -2 at Minnesota Gophers +2, Total 51

TCF Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota - Noon, ET - ESPN2

This is the 110th meeting between these two teams. Minnesota has the overall edge 62-45-2. Iowa came into the season ranked 11th with high expectations, only to lose to North Dakota State and Northwestern and fall clearly out of the rankings. Minnesota lost last week at Penn State in overtime in their first real test of the year. These two teams hate one another and the team that can control their emotions and make the fewest mistakes will come out on top. Two even teams, I am taking the home team and the points. Minnesota will find a way to win.

Maryland Terrapins -1 at Penn State Nittany Lions +1, Total 58

Beaver Stadium, University Park, PA - Noon, ET - BTN

The line for this game opened with Penn State favored by one-point and quickly moved to Maryland favored by a point. Penn State has owned the Terrapins winning 36 and losing only two. Maryland could be the surprise team in the conference and this game will be the tell all if indeed the Terrapins are for real. History tells me that the Nittany Lions will win this game.

Purdue Boilermakers +10 at Illinois Fighting Illini -10, Total 54

Memorial Stadium, Champaign, Illinois - 3:30 p.m., ET - BTN

Two bad teams! Illinois showed some promise last week by playing Nebraska tough for a half before suffering yet another loss. Illinois head coach Lovie Smith is finding that it’s hard to win games in the Big 10 with average talent. Well this week his team has more talent than the opponent and will win by double-digits. Illinois 35, Purdue 20.

Indiana Hoosiers +29 at Ohio State Buckeyes -29, Total 61

Ohio Stadium, Columbus, Ohio - 3:30 p.m., ET - ESPN

The Buckeyes continue to roll, putting up 50 points a game and their defense is getting better each week. Ohio State will put up close to 50 points again this week and the Hoosiers will put up at least 17 points, making the OVER the play in this game. OSU leads the all-time series 71-12-5.

BYU Cougars +6 at Michigan State Spartans -6, Total 50

Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, Michigan - 3:30 p.m., ET - ABC

This is the first ever meeting between these two clubs and a weird time for a non-conference game. The Spartans have to be one of the most disappointing teams in the nation. They lost last week to Indiana and the week before to Wisconsin to see their once promising season slipping away. BYU will give Michigan State a game and keep it close. I like the DOG!

Michigan Wolverines -27.5 at Rutgers Scarlet Knights +27.5, Total 53

High Point Solutions Stadium, Piscataway, New Jersey - ESPN2

The game total is 53 points. The Wolverines may put up 53 on their own. The game total is too low and should be closer to 60. Michigan rolls, 52-10.

Two-Team Parlay of the week:

Ohio State OVER with Michigan OVER

Teams on BYE: Wisconsin, Nebraska and Northwestern
