Week 7 featured some close calls but no major upsets. In the game of the week, Michigan needed overtime to get by Indiana, 27-20. Ohio State crushed Nebraska 56-14 and in the process moved up to No. 6 in the country, giving the conference three teams in the top six. That’s strong!

In other games, Wisconsin squeaked by Purdue, 17-9, Northwestern dominated Maryland, Michigan State won by a field goal at Minnesota and Rutgers upended Illinois.

This week’s big game is Michigan at Penn State, where the No. 2 ranked Nittany Lions look to remain unbeaten and hand Jim Harbaugh his second loss of the year.

Northwestern hosts the Iowa Hawkeyes in a must win for both teams and Wisconsin welcomes Mayland to camp Randall Stadium.

It’s shaping up to be a big week in the Big 10 conference and here is a look at all the games.

Big 10 Game of the Week

Saturday, October 21, 2017

Michigan Wolverines +10 at Penn State Nittany Lions -10, Total 44.5

Beaver Stadium, University Park, PA. - 7:30 p.m., ET - ABC

Penn State gets their revenge this week. Last year Michigan buried the Nittany Lions 49-10 in Ann Arbor but this year the outcome will be entirely different. Penn State was on a bye last week so they have had almost two weeks to prepare for this game and furthermore, a whole year to think about the loss last season. The Wolverines will have trouble moving the ball and their defense will run out of gas, allowing Saquon Barkley to gain close to 200 all-purpose yards and move closer to winning the Heisman Trophy. Penn State 34 - 13.

All-time series record: Michigan 13-7-0

Other Big 10 Games for Saturday, October 21, 2017

Maryland Terrapins +24 at Wisconsin Badgers -24, Total 51

Camp Randall Stadium, Madison, Wisconsin - Noon, ET - FOX

Wisconsin disappointed backers last week. Yah they beat Purdue 17-9 but failed to cover the spread and looked horrible on offense. Now they face a Maryland team that has improved somewhat from last year. The Badgers, at home, get out of their offensive funk and roll the Terps by four scores.

All-time series record: Wisconsin 2-0-0

Iowa Hawkeyes -1 at Northwestern Wildcats +1, Total 47

Ryan Field, Evanston, Illinois - Noon, ET - ESPN2

This could be the most even matchup of the year. Two similar, well coached teams that rely on running the ball and playing shut down defense. The game will be won in the trenches, where Iowa has the edge. I’m taking the Hawkeyes to spring the upset in Evanston.

All-time series record: Iowa 50-25-3

Indiana Hoosiers +6.5 at Michigan State Spartans -6.5, Total 46.5

Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, Michigan - 3:30 p.m., ET - ABC

Similar teams in this matchup. Both like to pound the ball on the ground and rely on their strong defenses to dictate the flow of the game. Lack of turnovers and ball control offenses make the UNDER a must play. First team to 20 wins the game.

All-time series record: Michigan State 45-16-2

Illinois Fighting Illini +14 at Minnesota Gophers -14, Total 48

TCF Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota - 3:30 p.m., ET - BTN

How bad is Illinois? They are the worst team in the conference and it’s not even close. Minnesota is reeling, losing three games after winning their first three. Illinois couldn’t have come to Minneapolis at a better time. The Gophers get back in the win column and in a big way. Minnesota 33 - 9.

All-time series record: Minnesota 37-29-3

Purdue Boilermakers -9.5 at Rutgers Scarlet Knights +9.5, Total 51

High Point Solutions Stadium, Piscataway, New Jersey - Noon, ET - BTN

I love the Scarlet Knights this week. Playing at home coming off a win at Illinois, Rutgers keeps this game close and possibly wins their second Big Ten game in a row. Ruff, ruff, the dog is barking.

All-time series record: First Meeting

Teams on a BYE week: Ohio State Buckeyes, Nebraska Cornhuskers
