College Football Odds - Big 12 College Football Roundup - Week 5

2016-NCAAF-Big-12-Roundup-Betting-Odds

The non-conference season is over and the Big 12 Conference rolls into week 5 with a full slate of conference games, highlighted by the showdown between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma State Cowboys. West Virginia looks to stay undefeated by hosting the Kansas State Wildcats and Oklahoma travels to Ft. Worth to face the TCU Horned Frogs. The conference title is up for grabs and right now Baylor and West Virginia have the inside track to bring home the title, but it’s early and a lot can change before the season ends.

Last week Baylor proved why they still are the cream of the crop by beating the pesky Oklahoma State team and West Virginia got a big non-conference win against BYU. Even Iowa State got in the win column for the first time this year by whipping San Jose State.

Let’s take a look at all the games in the Big 12 Conference for Week 5.

BIG 12 GAME OF THE WEEK

Saturday, October 1, 2016

Texas Longhorns +2.5 at Oklahoma State Cowboys -2.5 , Total 70.5

Boone Pickens Stadium, Stillwater, Oklahoma - NOON, ET - ABC

The line for the game has been steady with the home team Cowboys as a 2.5-point favorite. Oklahoma State suffered two consecutive losses and will look to bounce back against a Texas team that is unpredictable. There win in week 1 against Notre Dame was huge at the time, but doesn’t seem that good now since the Irish lost to Duke last week and Michigan State the week before. The Longhorns look like an average team, bowl bound, yes, but a team no better than the top 30 in the country. Boone Pickens Stadium will be rocking and the Cowboys will find a way to grab an important win. Oklahoma State wins 41-35.

Baylor Bears -16.5 at Iowa State Cyclones +16.5, Total 61

Jack Trice Stadium, Ames, Iowa - NOON, ET - FS1

This looks like a rout on paper and Joe Public will likely lay the 16.5 points, but be careful, the Cyclones generally play tough at home and will make a game of this by a heavy running attack that will keep the high octane Baylor offense on the sidelines. I like the points and so do the bookmakers across the country. Take the DOG!

Kansas State Wildcats +3 at West Virginia Mountaineers -3 , Total 54

Mountaineer Field, Morgantown, West Virginia - 3:30 p.m., ET - ESPNU

This will be a heck of a game. West Virginia remains unbeaten but at the same time, unproven. They haven’t really played anyone and now the face a tough Bill Snyder squad that is always a tough out. The Mountaineers offense got on track last week and seem to be improving on a weekly basis, which spells trouble for the inexperienced Wildcats defense. This game will be close heading to the fourth quarter, but the home crowd will give the Mountaineers enough energy to remain undefeated and beat Kansas State. West Virginia 28 - 24.

Oklahoma Sooners -3.5 at TCU Horned Frogs +3.5 , Total 69.5

Amon G. Carter Stadium, Ft. Worth, Texas - 5:00 p.m., ET - FOX

The line for this game opened at Oklahoma favored by 2-points and is currently at -3.5. From what I have seen in the Sooners so far in 2016, they are vastly over-rated and should not be favored on the road against a very good TCU team. I think the bookmakers have the wrong team favored. TCU adds more misery to the Sooners season and protects home field and squeaks by Oklahoma by three.

Kansas Jayhawks +28.5 at Texas Tech Red Raiders -28.5, Total 80 - THURSDAY NIGHT GAME

Jones AT and T Stadium, Lubbock, Texas - 8:30 p.m., ET - FS1

Will Kansas win a game this year? No and No way. They are arguably the worst team in the nation and will be no match for the Red Raiders. TCU scores early and often and wins this game by five touchdowns.
