South Carolina Gamecocks +7.5

Florida Gators -7.5

Over/Under 46.5

WHEN THE FLORIDA GATORS HAVE THE BALL

These two offenses both average 367 yards per game, but the Gators rely more on passing. That’s not good with backup Treon Harris at quarterback, as over his last three games since October 17 he’s completed just 37-of-74 passes and been sacked 10 times. He’s one of the worst graded quarterbacks in the country, and the offensive line is playing poorly. The Gators are +9 in turnover margin this season but coughed the ball up four times last week against Vanderbilt.

The Gators offense had just 12 first downs and 258 total yards at 4.3 yards per play last week. Florida rushed for just 93 yards at 2.7 yards per rush and the Gators have one of the worst rushing attacks in the SEC averaging 137 yards per game.

While a letdown was likely following the big win over Georgia, it’s still a concern with the offense to lay these points on the road as the offense has failed to score at least 30 points in four straight games. Florida will rely heavily on its running game this week as South Carolina’s defense allows a league-worst 5.2 yards per rush and over 200 rushing yards per game.

WHEN THE SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS HAVE THE BALL

The Gamecocks are in last place in the SEC East at 1-6 and have just three wins this season. The offense is one of the worst in the SEC also, and facing Florida’s No. 1 SEC scoring defense is a concern. However, the Gators will be missing senior defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard along with safety Keanu Neal and defensive tackle Joey Ivie.

Off back-to-back close road losses at Texas A&M and Tennessee, the Gamecocks offense played better with balance with 445 and 385 yards in defeat. Senior running back Brandon Wilds has rushed for over 300 yards the last three games and star receiver Pharoh Cooper has four 100-yard receiving games. Quarterback Perry Orth was under too much pressure in recent games, but recall against Vanderbilt’s solid defense Orth passed for 272 yards in a 19-10 home win on October 17 as the ‘Cocks impotent offense rose up for 424 yards against the same ‘Dores defense that Florida struggled with last week.

Orth will likely pass over 30 times this week and with better protection the Gamecocks offense may have enough success to steal this game late.

LIVE BETTING AND TRENDS

Live betting will offer most value on the Gamecocks and especially at adjusted prices if behind. Many see the record and results of South Carolina and don’t feel comfortable betting on bad teams against better teams. But prior to the season, South Carolina would have been a slight favorite in this contest.

That adds to the live betting value when supporting the Gamecocks on their strong home field with a rabid crowd.

Florida is 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games and South Carolina is 5-2 ATS its last seven home games.

The under is 4-1 in the Gators last five games and 5-1 in the Gamecocks last six home games.

South Carolina is 6-1 ATS as a home underdog of more than 7-points and have covered three-straight SEC games.

South Carolina is playing with renewed energy under interim coach Shawn Elliott and the ‘Cocks should rise to the occasion for this game knowing too that they have beaten the Gators in four of the last five meetings.
