College Football Odds - Nebraska Cornhuskers at UCLA Bruins

2015-Foster-Farms-Bowl-Betting-Odds

I must say that these bowls are getting a little ridiculous. I mean, how can a team that goes 5-7 even qualify for a bowl game. That’s what the Nebraska Cornhuskers did, they have a losing record but somehow are playing in the postseason. The Cornhuskers square off against the UCLA Bruins in the 2015 Foster Farms Bowl.

Becoming bowl eligible didn’t exactly go as planned for Nebraska in Mike Riley’s first season in Lincoln. The Huskers failed to win the requisite six games, but a strong academic record qualified the program when not enough schools were available to fill the slots in all 40 games. Yeah, it’s a historically odd situation, but Nebraska will take it. Six of the team’s seven losses were by no more than eight points.

UCLA finished the year 8-4, started the year off winning their first four games and were ranked in the top 10, but after suffering two consecutive losses to ASU and Stanford their season started unraveling. The biggest question heading into this bowl is whether or not the Bruins will be ready to play. If they come ready to play, the Cornhuskers may get blown out. That’s a big “if” and head coach Jim Mora knows it. Backers are becoming restless with the inability of fourth-year head coach Jim Mora to get UCLA over the hump. And while a bowl victory isn’t going to clear the air, a loss will make for an even more contentious climate this offseason in Los Angeles. Mora is feeling the heat in LA!

Nebraska Cornhuskers +6

UCLA Bruins -6

Game Total 61

BETTING ANGLE

The betting line opened up with UCLA favored by 6 points and hasn’t moved. The game total opened at 61 and has yet to move one way or the other. I imagine the line may move up to 7 by game time when people figure out that the Cornhuskers went 5-7 and have an average at best squad.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

The game is in California which can only help the Bruins. UCLA has better athletes across the board and Mora will have the Bruins ready to pounce on the under-manned Cornhuskers. Mora is feeling the heat and can’t afford a bowl loss to a 5-7 club. Nebraska may keep the game close in the first half, but costly turnovers by Tommy Armstrong will seal the fate of the team from Lincoln. UCLA wins this game by double-digits!
