College Football Odds - Texas AM Aggies at LSU Tigers Game Preview

Texas-AM-at-LSU.nss

Three weeks ago, the LSU Tigers were the No. 2 team in America and looked to be a win against Alabama away from staking a claim to a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Now, they've lost three games in a row, and many think that regardless of what happens in this one against the Texas A&M Aggies, Les Miles is going to end up being fired.

Texas A&M Aggies +5

LSU Tigers -5

Over/Under 50.5

ODDS ANALYSIS

Things fell apart quickly this year for the Bayou Bengals, and that's why "The Hat" could be on his way out of town.

Still, LSU is playing this game at home and at night, and Texas A&M has proven to be nothing really special in the SEC West this year. That's why the Tigers are deserving of being -5, though this spread could've been two touchdowns higher had things not fallen apart.

The total has been set at 50.5 but there are some 51s floating around.

KEY MISMATCH

There's been a common thread in these last three LSU losses. All of a sudden, the Bayou Bengals can't stop the run to save their lives. They've especially struggled against big, bruising backs, and it doesn't get much bigger and much more bruising than Tra Carson, who stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs 240 pounds.

Carson has had four straight 100+ yard games, and it's tough to argue, especially the way LSU has been playing up front, against him doing the same thing in this one.

KEY STAT

43 – The number of third downs LSU has had to face over the course of these last three games. That's just far too many third downs for a team which has to stay on schedule with down and distance to face.

The Bayou Bengals are particularly inept on third and long situations, knowing that Brandon Harris, in spite of his reasonable yardage totals of late, has completed better than 55 percent of his passes just one time in his last four games.

BETTING ANGLE

Since coming to the SEC, the Aggies have had no luck against LSU. Texas A&M has had better teams go up against the Tigers and has been beaten time and time again, going 0-4 SU and ATS.

ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION

Boy, it's really hard to like LSU right now. The Tigers seem to have fallen apart at the seams and can't seem to get out of their own way offensively. Leonard Fournette seems to be a forgotten man in this offense, and the defense can't figure out how to stop the run.

However, this just has the feel of a game which the Bayou Bengals come to life. Miles has to be tired answering questions about his job, and he's still a darn good coach with a lot to bring to the table, if not in Baton Rouge, than somewhere in the near future.

He's got the best player on the field in Fournette, and he has a defense which has shown the ability to shut down some really good teams. The Aggies are 1-3 against teams not named Vanderbilt and Western Carolina since starting 5-0, and that includes losing at home to a bad Auburn team.

This is a great chance to take advantage of the oddsmakers being forced to lower this line far more than they should considering LSU was a 7.5-point favorite in this match-up before the season kicked off.
