College Football Odds - Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Notre Dame Fighting Irish Game Preview

2015-Wake-Forest-at-Notre-Dame-Betting-Odds

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are in great shape now. If they run the table as they are expected to do, they should ultimately find their way into the College Football Playoff. Games like this against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons shouldn't provide any challenge whatsoever, and the only real question is whether the ACC bottom feeders can snare a cover in South Bend against a huge betting line.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Notre Dame hasn't exactly been mauling teams of late, as it hasn't beaten anyone by four or more touchdowns since September 26. That said, the schedule has been brutal, and this is the first non-bowl team on the docket since that point as well. That said, it isn't surprising that the Irish are giving a hefty 27.5 to a Wake Forest team which has horrible problems trying to score.

Totals in Wake Forest games are generally amongst the lowest in America, and this Saturday is no exception with a number to beat of 51.

KEY MISMATCH

How are the Deacons going to score in this game? Notre Dame's defense might've allowed 20+ points in every game since Week 1, but this is the worst offense it has gone up against. There have been a lot of horribly tough games for the Irish to face, but they've ultimately risen to the challenge.

We suspect a Wake Forest team which hasn't scored more than 24 points against an FBS team this year and hasn't scored more than 19 since September 26 is in for a long game. Keep in mind that the Demon Deacons have been outdone by an average of 153 yards per game in their last four overall, and they've been beaten both on the ground and through the air in all four games.

KEY STAT

7.6 – The number of yards per carry Josh Adams is averaging this year for the Golden Domers. C.J. Prosise is going through concussion protocol this week after getting banged up against Pitt last Saturday, and we don't expect him to ultimately suit up, especially with this being such a meaningless game to a team which has National Championship aspirations.

Adams though, is a suitable replacement for sure.

BETTING ANGLE

The Fighting Irish have been an awesome cover crew this season. They're now 8-2 ATS in their last 10 overall, and they've killed it at home to the tune of a perfect 5-0 SU and ATS mark. Granted, they aren't laying four touchdowns all that often, but they've got an awesome home field advantage, especially against a Wake Forest team which was beaten 50-14 the last time it was out on the road against North Carolina.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

No team has gone through as many major injuries as Notre Dame has, and Prosise can be added to the bunch now.

However, as we said before, Adams is a suitable replacement, and DeShone Kizer, who is a replacement himself, should have plenty of time to get the ball to William Fuller time and time again.

We suspect that Notre Dame will only have to hit 40 to cover this game against a horrible Wake Forest offense, and we wouldn't be shocked if the Deacs end up getting shut out.
