GAME OF THE WEEK
The Big XII has more or less cannibalized itself already, and there's more damage to be done in the weeks to come. TCU and Oklahoma are playing this week in an elimination game, but with Trevone Boykin a question mark for the duel, we're more focused in on Baylor and Oklahoma State.
Credit the Cowboys for everything they've done this year. They were never supposed to be better than the fourth best team in this conference, yet they've won their first 10 games of the season and have their last two games at home.
By all accounts, Baylor should be the better of these two teams, but after losing last week at home against Oklahoma, there is some concern, especially over new quarterback Jarrett Stidham. Stidham can throw the ball for sure, and he's going to be one of the good ones in the Big XII for a long time to come, but Mason Rudolph is the here and now in Stillwater.
The Cowboys are favored by just a single point, which more or less insinuates that the oddsmakers still believe Baylor has the better team. This isn't all that different from last week when the Bears were bested by the Cowboys.
WEEK 12 COLLEGE FOOTBALL ODDS NOTES
-The biggest point spread of the week is just 31.5-points. Auburn is laying that many against Idaho, though there are some spreads which are very close to that as well. Florida is -31 at home against Florida Atlantic, while Clemson is the biggest favorite in a conference game at -31 against Wake Forest.
-Toledo has only been an underdog in one MAC game over the course of the last two seasons, that game being at Northern Illinois last year. This week though, the Rockets are +7.5 against Bowling Green in what could reasonably still be a preview of the MAC Championship Game in a couple weeks.
-Georgia Southern opened up at just +15.5 on the road against Georgia. Remember that we're only a couple years removed from this team winning 26-20 in the Swamp against Florida. At that point, the Panthers were still at the FCS level and were working on their transition to the FBS. They were also 28.5-point underdogs that day. The fact that GSU is creeping nearer to two-touchdown dogs in this one is proof of how far this program has come.
