College Football Week 13 Opening Odds Report

College-Football-Week-13-Opening-Odds-Report-bm

There really isn't necessarily a whole heck of a lot left to say about Week 13 of the college football season aside from the fact that it's Rivalry Week. A Top 5 team is guaranteed to be beaten for the third straight week when Ohio State plays against Michigan, and there's sure to be one last shakeup before conference title games are played out in Week 14.

But what makes Rivalry Week great is the fact that you don't have to be a playoff contender to have this be your biggest week of the season. From the South Florida/UCF rivalry to the Virginia Tech/Virginia rivalry to the Central Michigan/Eastern Michigan rivalry, there are games across the land that fans wait for every single season just to see if they can get one up on their nemeses, and that's what makes this the greatest four days of college football of the season.

Games of the Week

Washington at Washington State – Friday 3:30 p.m. ET

With apologies to the Iron Bowl, the game that we're skipping in this spot, the Apple Cup actually involves two teams with something to play for and is going to be a heck of a lot more competitive than Alabama against a banged up Auburn team. Washington and Washington State are playing for the Pac-12 North title and a relatively unpredictable spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game. But more important for Washington, it has to get these last two wins of the year to have any chance at going into the College Football Playoff.

On the field, there's a lot to like about this game. You just flat out know that Luke Falk and Mike Leach are going to sling the ball all over the yard and dare U-Dub to try to keep up. The Huskies surely can if Jake Browning is at his best, and this might even be a game in which he can make a late jumpstart in his campaign to get to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Michigan at Ohio State – Saturday 12 p.m. ET

But this is THE GAME for all intents and purposes. It's the biggest game of the regular season with the most on the line. The loser of the Michigan/Ohio State game will almost certainly be eliminated from playoff contention and won't have a shot to play for the Big Ten title. Of course, Ohio State isn't necessarily going to be afforded that shot one way or the other depending upon how the Penn State game plays out later in the day, but a win would surely only mean good things for the Buckeyes.

Michigan feels like it's up against it just a bit. Sure, it has the best defense in America, but Wilton Speight doesn't seem like he's going to play, and that will essentially make Jim Harbaugh's offense one-dimensional with John O'Korn really not seeming to be willing to throw the ball much in this offense. The Buckeyes are going to have a huge contingent behind them and hope to get a fifth straight win in this series, but the early betting returns have been on the Wolverines, pushing them from +7 down to +6 in a span of just a few hours of the betting lines being open.
