GAME OF THE WEEK

It's all about the Big Ten title game this week, as both the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Michigan State Spartans are playing for their spot in the College Football Playoff. The loser of this game is likely headed to the Rose Bowl to take on either Stanford or USC.

On the field, the Hawkeyes are still undefeated, though they're largely untested. This in their first game all season long against a Top 15 team. Michigan State meanwhile, has been thrown to the wolves, having already beaten Ohio State and Michigan on the road as well as Oregon at home.

Clearly, Michigan State has the better horses in this game. The Spartans have an NFL caliber quarterback in Connor Cook and at least three or four men on the defensive side of the ball who could be playing on Sundays in the near future as well.

Iowa opened up at +3, but this is a team which has already won once this year as a relatively good sized pup at +5 against Wisconsin.

The total opened up at 52.5.

WEEK 14 COLLEGE FOOTBALL ODDS NOTES

-Alabama has the easiest path to get to the playoff from here. The Crimson Tide are favored by a whopping 16 against Florida in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta. Of all of the conference championship games, Alabama is easily the biggest favorite. No other team in a title game is favored by double digits.

-Clemson, the other team which can play itself into the College Football Playoff, is a 5.5-point favorite against North Carolina. It's the first time the Tigers have been favored by fewer than 9.5 in a game since that primetime game against Notre Dame at home.

-Totals are already posted for the week for some of the matchups, and points are expected to be aplenty in the MAC and Conference USA Championship Games. Both of these games have totals of 71, and they're not only the highest totals of the conference title games, but the highest totals of the week as well. One side note to remember in the MAC though, is that Dino Babers, the coach of Bowling Green, has been linked to the open UCF vacancy, so coaching might be an issue for the Falcons.

-Several teams are playing for spots in bowl games as well. Kansas State is the one 5-6 team which might not matter whether it wins or not. At least two teams which have 5-7 records are going to be in bowl games this year, and the Wildcats might be amongst them even if they don't get that win on Saturday over West Virginia. As it is, KSU is a 6.5-point underdog to West Virginia. In other games which are must-wins for teams to reach bowl games, Georgia State is +20.5 against Georgia Southern, while South Alabama is +18 at home against Appalachian State.
