GAME OF THE WEEK

The game of the week clearly will go down in East Lansing, where the No. 5 Michigan State Spartans take on the No. 7 Oregon Ducks. These two teams both have legitimate College Football Playoff hopes this year, and both teams need to come up with big wins to stick up for their conferences after some subpar performances surrounding them in Week 1 of the season.

The Spartans were beaten in this fixture last year 46-27, but they were 14-point underdogs and were never really considered to have a serious chance, especially with the game being played in Eugene.

This year though, with Marcus Mariota off to the NFL and several other changes taking place for the U of O, it's Michigan State which is favored in this game. On Sunday night, BookMaker put up a spread of MSU -2.5, and almost immediately, that line was bet up to -3.

Oregon might have looked good with Vernon Adams in Week 1, but its defense certainly suggests that this might be a year for revenge for the Spartans.

WEEK 2 COLLEGE FOOTBALL ODDS NOTES

-UCLA is the biggest road favorite of the weekend at -28.5. Josh Rosen looked fantastic in his first start of his collegiate career, and playing at UNLV is probably only going to help his conquest to become the first true freshman to win the Heisman Trophy.

-USC is the biggest favorite of the week at -43 at home against Idaho, a team which has barely hung onto its college football program.

-New Mexico State is favored over Georgia Southern by 5.5-points. It's the first time the Aggies have been favored in a game against an FBS opponent since the final game of the 2013 season against Idaho.

-Tennessee has opened at -1 against Oklahoma. The Volunteers haven't beaten a Top 25 team in eight straight games, going 2-6 ATS in those games.

-Memphis is favored by 11.5 at Kansas a week after the Jayhawks were beaten by South Dakota State. The Jayhawks haven't been underdogs to a non-Power Five team since beating Northern Illinois in 2011 as a four-point favorite.
