GAME OF THE WEEK

The Clemson/Notre Dame in Week 5 had the potential to be the showstopper of the season if not for the injury to Malik Zaire. That said, these are still two teams with legitimate playoff hopes putting them on the line against one another in Death Valley on Saturday night.

Odds have it, Clemson isn't getting through the ACC slate unscathed, but Notre Dame, even without Zaire, has a legitimate chance to run the table if it can get through this, the first meeting between these two teams.

Keep in mind though, that Clemson hasn't lost a home game since the middle of October in 2013 when Florida State proclaimed itself as a National Championship contender on national television. Notre Dame could do the same thing, but it is a 1.5-point underdog.

WEEK 5 COLLEGE FOOTBALL ODDS NOTES

-LSU is the biggest favorite of the entire season at -46 in FBS vs. FBS games when it takes on Eastern Michigan. The previous biggest favorite was 42.5 points when Oregon clocked Georgia State 61-28.

-Texas is a 17.5-point underdog against TCU on the road in Week 5. The last time the Longhorns were dogs by more than 17 points was back in 1998 against Michael Bishop's Kansas State Wildcats.

-Alabama is a 2.5-point underdog against Georgia in Athens. The last time the Crimson Tide were underdogs in a game was back in the 2009 SEC Championship Game, a game in which they killed Florida 32-13. The last time the Tide lost a game as underdogs was in the SEC Championship Game in 2008, a game which was also against the Gators. Both teams went on to win the National Championship.

-UTSA is favored for the first time this season when it travels to UTEP. That's not the interesting tidbit, though. The last time the Roadrunners were favored on the road was last September against Florida Atlantic, a game which they lost 41-37. They've actually only won one road game in their brief four-year FBS history as favorites, and that happened to be two years ago right here in El Paso.
