Georgia Bulldogs at Tennessee Volunteers betting on CBS Saturday

Georgia-at-Tennessee-Odds5

Considering the fact that the Tennessee Volunteers already have two losses in the SEC, they have no choice but to pile on against the Georgia Bulldogs if they want to keep any hopes alive of winning the SEC East.

WHEN THE GEORGIA BULLDOGS HAVE THE BALL

The Bulldogs know that they have to pick themselves up after last week's thrashing at the hands of Alabama, and this is a good defense to do so against. The Volunteers have had a history of allowing big plays, though their averages won't suggest that. They are giving up just 5.6 yards per play this year, including a modest 6.8 yards per pass attempt and 4.5 yards per carry.

However, there are definitely some game-changers here for the Dawgs. Nick Chubb now holds the UGA record for the most consecutive 100-yard rushing games with the great Herschel Walker at 13, and he is going to be a favorite to continue that on Saturday.

Isaiah McKenzie can also change the game in a hurry whenever he gets the ball in his hands. He already has a punt return for a touchdown this season, and is the type of guy who can silence Rocky Top in a hurry.

WHEN THE TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS HAVE THE BALL

The Volunteers almost feel like they are done with at this point after starting off this year at 2-3. Sure, they're averaging 417.8 yards per game, but they just aren't managing to get the job done when they are ahead in games. They're averaging only 3.4 points per game in the fourth quarter, less than half of what they have allowed.

Joshua Dobbs hasn't thrown a touchdown pass in two straight games, and though he hasn't thrown a pick either, there isn't a fan clad in white and orange who believes that he has been suitable as a starting quarterback. His clutch play clearly isn't there at this point, and as a junior, better is expected of him.

That's going to leave this up to the Georgia defense to get the job done. We know that the 'D' isn't going to have to be on the field a ton with the way that Chubb runs the football, but when it is out there, it has to be better than it was last week when it was run all over by the Crimson Tide. The power running game is going to be on display for sure for the Vols. UGA has held teams to just 3.3 yards per carry, but Derrick Henry ran all over it last week, something live bettors need to be aware of.

TREND TO TRACK

The good news for the Vols is that they have covered three games in a row in this series. The bad news is that they haven't won a game SU since back in 2009.

This series has been awfully close of late. The last four meetings have all been decided by a single score, and the last time these two met in Knoxville, the game went to the Dawgs in overtime. We know that these two teams really don't like each other, and the end result in these rivalry games is usually pretty darn close. The point spread is tight as well at -2.5, and live bettors should be ready to pounce on the dog if one of these teams opens up a big lead on the other.
