The real frustrating part about the Heisman Trophy odds is that you never really know this time of year if the eventual winner is even listed on the board. All too often, we see guys like Johnny Manziel or Jameis Winston come out of nowhere to go from a guy who isn't even on the board to one who is the favorite to take down college football's biggest individual honor in a heartbeat.
As sort of as a PSA, do know that the winner might not even be on this list yet.
However, we can only go with what we know for the time being, and there are still some fantastic prices here on some of these favorites.
Here are some of our top choices on the preseason Heisman Trophy odds.
Trevone Boykin (TCU) – It's really hard to argue that Boykin is the favorite to win the Heisman right now. TCU has a relatively easy run in the Big XII this season, and if the team goes 11-1 once again, there's no way the CFP is going to spurn it.
Boykin threw for 3,901 yards and 33 TDs, and he rushed for 707 yards and eight scores last season. There’s no reason to think that 5,000 total yards of offense and 50 touchdowns is out of the question.
If that's how this all plays out, Boykin will, at minimum, be a finalist for the Heisman.
Derrick Henry (Alabama) – You know that Alabama is going to run the football all year long. It's going to happen. Yes, there will probably be a bit of a time share with others, but Henry is going to be the moose as we see it.
Last year's 5.8 yards per carry average might pale in comparison to what we are going to see this year. It isn't out of the question to see Henry run for 2,000 yards and 30 scores this year, even though that sounds way out in left field.
Vernon Adams (Oregon) – The Ducks are still going to rule the roost in the Pac-12 this season, even without Marcus Mariota. Adams is another one of these stat-junky types of quarterbacks who will run around like a chicken with his head cut off.
If Oregon wins, Adams will have the stats to win the Heisman Trophy even though he has never played at the FBS level before after starting his career at Eastern Washington.
