Michigan St Spartans at Michigan Wolverines live on ESPN headlines - Week 7 Big Ten Roundup

Big-Ten-Roundup-Odds15

Week 6 in the Big Ten is in the books. The biggest surprise may have been how easily Michigan handled Northwestern in a battle of unbeatens. The Wolverines continued their surge with another shutout, their third straight! Ohio State, Michigan State and Iowa all won their respective games and all remain undefeated. The conference has five teams ranked in the top 25.

Big Ten play continues into Week 7 with 12 teams in action. Illinois and Maryland are idle this week. Conference play is starting to heat up with a few intriguing matchups. Let’s take a look at this week’s games. All odds taken from BookMaker Sportsbook.

BIG 10 GAME OF THE WEEK

Saturday, October 17, 2015

Michigan State Spartans +8 at Michigan Wolverines -8, Total 42

Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, Michigan - 3:30 p.m., ET - ESPN

If you had asked me before the year started who would be a 7.5 point favorite in this game, no doubt, I would have said Michigan State, but Jim Harbaugh has the Michigan Wolverines playing great football, with some nasty defense that has recorded three shutouts in-a-row.

After losing to Utah in Week 1, the Wolverines have rattled off five straight wins and some experts think they are the best team in the conference, sorry Buckeye fans. Now they face state rival Michigan State in a must win for both teams.

The Spartans are undefeated as well, but are 0-5 against the spread. The line for this game opened up at Michigan -6 points and has climbed to -8. Sparty keeps things close and covers their first game of the year. Take the points!

Other notable Big Ten games - All odds taken from BookMaker Sportsbook.

Penn State Nittany Lions +17 at Ohio State Buckeyes -17, Total 47

8:00 p.m., ET - ABC

The No. 1 ranked Buckeyes finally got their offense on track by scoring 49 points last week, the only problem is they gave up 28. They will have to do much better than that if they want to remain unbeaten when they face the Nittany Lions. The game total for this game opened up at 51 and early action on the under has dropped the total to 47.

Iowa Hawkeyes -2 at Northwestern Wildcats +2, Total 41

Noon, ET - ABC/ESPN

Give me the home dog! Iowa is due to lose and Northwestern comes in angry after getting pummeled by Michigan. The defenses will shine, but a costly turnover in the second half will cost the Hawkeyes and their perfect record. Northwestern wins, 20-17.

Purdue Boilermakers +23.5 at Wisconsin Badgers -23.5, Total 48

Noon, ET - BTN

Wisconsin is going to put up a crooked number this week - maybe close to 50 points. If Purdue can put up 14, the OVER is a sure thing. The Badgers roll, 48-21. Quick note: this game opened up at Wisconsin -19.5 and has climbed to 23.5. Like I said, the Badgers thump the Boilermakers.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Indiana Hoosiers, Total

3:30 p.m., ET - BTN

As of Wednesday night, there was not a line for this game. With injuries to both teams at key positions, I am not sure when there will be a spread for this matchup. The Hoosiers have to be the favorite and I would expect both defenses to give up a ton of points.

Nebraska Cornhuskers +1.5 at Minnesota Gophers -1.5, Total 47.5

3;30 p.m., ET - ESPN2

When I was handicapping this game, I had the game total closer to 55. We will need to check the weather on game day, but the total is too low and the game will go over the 47.5. Also, Nebraska loses every week and this week is no different. Minnesota will find a way to get the win. Lay the points and parlay it with the over for a sweet way to get your Saturday action started.
