Ohio State won one of the more improbable national championships last season and heads into the 2015 season as the favorite to win it all again.
The Buckeyes are a loaded football team, led by arguably the best head coach in the country in Urban Meyer. Yes, OSU is back on top of the college football world.

11/28: at Michigan
It’s quite possible the Buckeyes could be undefeated heading into their showdown with Michigan State on Nov. 21 given the ease of their schedule and mediocrity in the Big Ten. That’s also a home game for OSU and the Buckeyes are tough to beat in the horseshoe. The Buckeyes were upset by Virginia Tech last season and a trip to Blacksburg for the season opener in 2015 could be interesting.
SEASON WIN TOTAL
Ohio State’s win total for 2015 is 11, leaving little room for error during the regular season slate. The Buckeyes open at Virginia Tech after getting upset by the Hokies as 10-point chalk in Columbus last season. Some payback is in order and OSU cruises, without having to face Wisconsin and their biggest challenger, Michigan State, is at home. Ohio State could very easily run the table making the over a smart play.
OFFENSIVE OUTLOOK
While everybody is talking about the quarterback position, the Buckeyes have possibly the best running back in the country in Ezekiel Elliott, who rushed for more than 1,800 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2014 and is a Heisman favorite at +700. He’ll likely have another big year running behind a massive offensive line that returns four starters from last year’s national championship team.
Speaking of quarterbacks, the Buckeyes have three proven players who could all start for just about any program right now. Braxton Miller was the starter at the beginning of last season, J.T. Barrett led them to the playoffs and Cardale Jones won Ohio State a championship. Miller will take a shot at receiver in an effort to reduce the logjam, and whoever starts between Barrett and Jones, this offense will be tough to stop.
DEFENSIVE OUTLOOK
As good and talented as the offense is, Ohio State’s defense may be better. The Buckeyes ranked 19th in total defense in 2014 and tied for seventh with 45 sacks. With All-American Joey Bosa returning, it’s safe to say this group is scary.
Bosa was named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Year last season and anchors a defensive front that manhandles opposing offenses. If there’s a weakness it might be in the secondary, but it’s unlikely the group gets tested with all the pressure coming from the front seven. And really, the group isn’t that bad. The Buckeyes have the ability to a top-10 defensive team.
SEASON PREDICTION
The Big Ten is Ohio State’s conference and the Buckeyes are the favorite to repeat as National Champions at +265. Don’t worry about the conference title game or making the four-team playoff because anything but a national championship would be considered a bust for them.
The Big Ten East offers little resistance other than Michigan State and the Buckeyes get them at home this season. Wisconsin and Nebraska from the West Division are off the schedule this season, giving Ohio State a pretty clear path to the Big Ten Championship. And with the talent this team has, we can see them running the table.
