Ole Miss Rebels at Florida Gators betting on ESPN Saturday

Jim McElwain has already seemed to take the Florida Gators in the right direction his first season on the job in Gainesville. Beating Tennessee last week was nice, but if the orange and blue are going to get back to their championship form, they need to prove they can beat teams like the Ole Miss Rebels.

WHEN THE OLE MISS REBELS HAVE THE BALL

The big matchup here is going to be Vernon Hargreaves against the Ole Miss wide receivers. We know that the Rebels are going to take some shots down the field, because we know the Gators are going to be aggressive defensively and put their safeties in the box more often than not.

That's going to cue Chad Kelly to toss the ball down the field a lot. Laquon Treadwell, Quincy Adeboyejo and Cody Core are all explosive receivers, and Hargreaves is going to have to find a way to take one of these three out of the game. If not, the Rebels are going to score at will, and live bettors are going to have a field day betting on the visitors.

It should be noted that the Gators have been prone to big plays. Tennessee hit three major plays against this defense last Saturday, and both Joshua Dobbs and Jalen Hurd rushed for over 100 yards.

If the Rebels have that same sort of success, you can bet they aren't going to leave Gainesville with a loss like the Vols did.

WHEN THE FLORIDA GATORS HAVE THE BALL

Will Grier has been one of the luckiest quarterbacks in the nation thus far this year. Yes, he is completing almost 70 percent of his passes, but of his 440 passing yards, a whopping 154 of them are after the catch.

Take last week's winning play against Tennessee. Antonio Callaway caught a pass on a curl route about 15 yards down the field in soft coverage on fourth down and long. He turned and took the ball another 50 yards for a touchdown to pad Grier's otherwise lousy stats.

The Rebels have an aggressive defense, and they are going to get after the Gators the same way they did against Alabama. The difference? UF doesn't have Derrick Henry in the backfield.

Henry was largely the reason why the Crimson Tide had the minimal success they were able to achieve. Florida won't be so lucky, and live bettors need to be aware of that every time the hosts get the football.

TREND TO TRACK

It's interesting to think that the Gators are 3-1 for over backers this year, but when you go back and look at how those overs got there, you have to be giggling to see the overlay you'll get in this game because of it.

Last week's game against Tennessee only made it to the total because of the aforementioned Callaway touchdown. Three weeks ago versus ECU, the game went past the total because of turnovers and a late rally by the Pirates.

The Gators have had nothing to do with their overs outside of that first game of the season against New Mexico State. Their offense is legitimately good for about three real drives per game, and that won't cut it to get this game past the total, and it shouldn't scare live bettors.
