Texas Tech Red Raiders at Oklahoma Sooners live betting on ABC Saturday

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have had a history of being a real thorn in the side of the Oklahoma Sooners. Even though OU has been all over the place this year, it would be surprising if this turned out to be any exception to the rule for this series.

WHEN THE TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS HAVE THE BALL

The whole reason Texas Tech couldn't figure out how to put up more than 30 points against lowly Kansas last week on the road is because it couldn't get a consistent ground game going. Yes, DeAndre Washington ended up with 152 yards on 22 carries, but he was anything but consistent, managing just one carry for more than seven yards in the first half.

Only a 45-yard run to help kill off the game in the fourth put him beyond that century mark.

Oklahoma's defense, one which is allowing just 321.7 total yards per game and 3.7 yards per carry, clearly won't be inviting for Washington either.

Kliff Kingsbury has done a really nice job of balancing out his offense. Patrick Mahomes can throw the ball all over the place for sure, but without that run, live bettors should know they're going to be in some trouble.

Last week, Kansas State barely reached 100 total yards of offense against the Sooners, and if that's the defense which shows up in this one, the boys from Lubbock are going to be running and hiding with their tails between their legs.

WHEN THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS HAVE THE BALL

Two weeks ago in the Red River Rivalry against Texas, the Sooners were outgained by 246 yards on the ground, an incredibly lopsided effort which had many in Norman wondering whether Bob Stoops' days were on the verge of being numbered.

The very next week, in a game which could've been just as tricky against Kansas State, the Sooners fired back with 55 points with no response whatsoever. Baker Mayfield threw for 282 yards and five touchdowns, while six different rushers had at least 10 yards and four different men had at least 33 yards.

It's this balance which is proving to be so dangerous for the Sooners. Go back and look at that game against Texas. No one was able to carry the ball all that much, and Sterling Shepard was the only receiver to get anything notable done as a receiver.

When the Sooners are spreading the pigskin all over the place, they're at their best. They've still got superior talent on the field against most teams in the Big XII, and live bettors should be aware that that fact is true against Texas Tech, too.

TREND TO TRACK

We mentioned the history of this series at the top, but it's worth it to dive a little bit deeper into this for live bettors. The Red Raiders won here in 2001 41-38 as 29-point underdogs. They've also got SU wins in 2005, 2007 and 2009 in Lubbock. Last year, they covered the 14-point spread at home in a 42-30 loss, and they were unfortunate not to score a cover in a 38-30 loss in 2013 back here in Norman as 7-point underdogs.
