Week 10 College Football Odds - Florida State Seminoles at NC State Wolfpack Game Preview

2016-NCAAF-Florida-State-at-NC-State-Betting-Lines

The No. 19 Florida State Seminoles are looking to rebound this week after losing a tight one to No. 3 Clemson. The loss sent the Seminoles tumbling seven spots down the national polls and a road win in Raleigh would be a solid response in this Week 10 matchup against the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

N.C. State also put up a fight against undefeated Clemson, ultimately losing by a field goal in overtime on October 15. The Wolfpack has lost two more since then, entering this game on a three-game losing streak. The home field advantage could give North Carolina State a chance but the Seminoles still enter this one as the team to beat.

Florida State -5

NC State +5

Over/Under 58

Odds Analysis

The early returns are that this spread may be a touch too high, with more than 58 percent of the action coming in on North Carolina State to cover. It caused the spread to drop a half-point as oddsmakers want to even it out with some action on Florida State.

The scoring total has been hit hard on the “under” early on, as the gamblers don’t foresee the offenses taking control of this one.

Florida State is 5-3 straight up and 3-4-1 against the spread this season, with a 2-4 record as the favorite. North Carolina State is 4-4 straight up and 5-3 against the spread. The Wolfpack is 4-1 at home at attempting to cover.

Player to Watch

Dalvin Cook - The Florida State running back is coming off a career week against Clemson. Even though the Seminoles lost to the Tigers last week, 37-34, it was a very good performance for the junior running back who had 19 carries for 169 yards and a career-high four touchdowns.

That performance brings Cook’s total to 1,069 yards on the season with 11 touchdowns. The go-to back has really turned it on lately, accumulating 841 of those rushing yards in the last five weeks.

He ran for 267 yards and two touchdowns in the 55-35 win over South Florida on September 24th and hasn’t cooled off since. Cook will be a big threat for NC State to try and contain. The Wolfpack has been stingy against the run and the side that wins this battle could very well win the game.

That’s how important it is to each side.

Key Stat

31. That’s how many rushing yards NC State managed in the loss to Boston College last week. This isn’t exactly a fluke ether as the team has managed just 14 yards on the ground the week before against Louisville.

And, because of NC State’s inability to run the ball this year, there is extra pressure on Ryan Finley and the passing game. He must be perfect it seems for the Wolfpack to even have a chance.

Matthew Dayes is the team’s leading rusher right now. He has 727 yards but it’s taken him 144 carries to get that number. Finley has thrown for 1,815 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Free ATS Pick

North Carolina State has a win over Notre Dame and almost beat Clemson this season, so it is certainly no pushover. But Florida State has the more talented roster has played some good ball of late with two wins and the close loss to Clemson in its past three games.

The Seminoles have a more powerful offense and that should ultimately be the difference. Take Florida State to not only win this game on the road but also get the cover. The scoring total is well-placed but the call is the “over” as the Seminoles could put up some points

College Football Odds: Florida State 35, NC State 24
