The Oklahoma Sooners are in the driver’s seat in the Big 12, and should remain undefeated in the conference as they face off with the Iowa State Cyclones in Week 9 of the college season.

Oklahoma lost two non-conference games early but has hit its stride with five consecutive wins in the Big 12. Even though this game is on the road, Iowa State is not likely to put up much resistance. The Sooners are heavy favorites to keep on rolling with another conference victory.

Oklahoma -19.5

Iowa State +19.5

Odds Analysis

The Sooners are coming off a demolishing of Kansas, and the bettors like them to roll again. Oklahoma is nearly a three-touchdown favorite and yet nearly 88 percent of the action still has it covering the spread.

Oklahoma is only 2-5 against the spread but did pick up the cover easily one week ago. Iowa State may only be 1-7 straight up but is 5-3 against the spread, including covering in three of four home games.

The Cyclones might not have much chance of winning but will aim to keep rewarding gamblers by covering the spread.

Player to Watch

Dede Westbrook - The Oklahoma wide is a one of the best receivers in college football. The senior has accumulated 1,035 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

He is coming off a huge game against Kansas where he had not one, but two incredible returns on special teams. Westbrook started things off with a 71-yard punt return for a touchdown in the 56-3 win over Kansas and also returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, but that one was called back due to a holding call.

Westbrook finished the game with 230 total yards which included 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns last Saturday. He will be coming into this game against Iowa State with plenty of momentum.

Key stat

233.6. That’s the number of rushing yards per game Iowa State has allowed this season, which is a really poor mark. If the Cyclones have any chance of keeping this one competitive, they must stop the run, but it won’t be easy.

Oklahoma averages 45.4 points per game and is totaling 223.9 rushing yards per game. The leader is Joe Mixon, as he has 119 carries for 813 yards and five touchdowns on the season.

The Sooners can throw the ball and will likely have success there, but if they successfully move it on the ground as well, Iowa State will be sunk.

Free ATS Pick

The Cyclones may have the home field advantage, but that’s about the only favorable part of this matchup. Iowa State is getting outscored by an average of 12 points per game and is one of only two winless teams remaining in the Big 12 along with Kansas.

Iowa State has hung around against Baylor, Oklahoma State and Kansas State, so there is plenty of hope to cover the spread, but a win seems unlikely.

Oklahoma may not have much of a chance of reaching the College Football Playoff since it already has two losses, but the Sooners are playing well in conference. They should be able to keep that up, cruising to a road win over inferior Iowa State.

Don’t be scared off by the high spread in this one. The Oklahoma offense is clicking on all cylinders right now and won’t be slowed down by a suspect Iowa State defense.

The Cyclones can only stick in if they score regularly, but watch for the Sooners’ defense to step up early and turn this one into a laugher.

College Football Odds: Oklahoma Sooners 41, Iowa State 17
