Week 10 College Football Odds - Washington Huskies at California Bears Game Preview

2016-NCAAF-Washington-at-California-Bet-Online

The No. 4 Washington Huskies just keep on rolling. The team improved to 8-0 last week, defeating No. 17 Utah 31-24, and find themselves smack dab in the middle of the College Football Playoff conversation.

The win marked Washington’s second victory against this season over a nationally ranked opponent, having also beaten No. 7 Stanford decisively this season. In Week 10, the Huskies hit the road to take on the California Golden Bears who are 4-4 on the season.

Cal is coming off a 45-23 loss to USC last week, but also has two wins over ranked opponents this season, defeating Texas and Utah earlier this year. While the Bears have found some success pulling upsets earlier in the year, don’t expect that to happen again as the Huskies are proving themselves to be national championship contenders.

Watch this regular season Week 10 matchup live on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 10:30 p.m. ET at Kabam Field.

Odds Analysis

The line has moved up a half-point for Washington in the past day as 74 percent of the early action has come in on the Huskies and the oddsmakers are aiming to even out the betting pattern.

The scoring total is sky high with a pair of offensive juggernauts in the game, but if Washington’s defense can step up it could be tough to hit. Not surprisingly, the majority of the money is choosing the “under” for this game.

Washington is 4-4 against the spread this season and has been favored in every game. California is 3-4-1 against the spread including 2-2 as an underdog.

Player to Watch

Myles Gaskin - The Washington running back is hitting his stride. The sophomore had 19 carries for 151 yards and a touchdown last week against Utah, his fourth game in a row where he had 100 yards or more on the ground.

Gaskin is averaging 6.5 yards a carry right now and has 135 carries for 878 yards on the season with seven touchdowns. He has really turned it on as of late and will look to continue that trend this week against Cal.

The Bears are awful stopping the run so it would not be a surprise at all to see Gaskin run wild in this contest.

Matchup to Watch

Cal’s Davis Webb against Washington’s pass defense. - The Huskies have been so strong defensively this season, but face another big test this week in Webb.

Washington must also switch gears quickly this week after taking care of a very physical team in Utah last week, they face the pass-heavy offense of the Golden Bears. Davis is averaging 364.3 yards passing a game.

The Huskies defense has held opposing offense to 15.8 points a game so far, ranking seventh in the nation. Webb, on the other hand, has thrown for nearly 3,000 yards with 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

It is a really interesting matchup. While Cal may be able to stack up yardage, this matchup could come down to whether the Washington defense can force him into turnovers.

Free ATS Pick

Washington passed a stiff test last time out against Utah and now goes on the road again as a big favorite. The Huskies have superior talent and by all accounts should win this game, but it may be natural to let down a bit and let Cal hang around.

The Bears’ defense is so poor that it will be hard to stop Washington, and so Webb and the offense really has to be close to perfect. While the Huskies may make it harder on themselves than it needs to be, they won’t be losing this one.

Washington has an inside track on a national semifinal berth and won’t let it go in this game against Cal.
