It hasn’t been the best season for either the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns or the Georgia Southern Eagles. Both teams have losing records and the loser of this Week 11 college football matchup will need to win out in order to reach a bowl. For the Ragin’ Cajuns, Mark Hudspeth’s job may be in danger if he finishes with another 4-8 record, while for the Eagles new coach Tyson Summers, it’s been a bumpy first season.
This contest in Week 11 will go down Thursday, November 10, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. ET at Allen E. Paulson Stadium This game will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Georgia Southern -10
Odds Analysis
Louisiana Lafayette is 3-5 SU and 4-4 ATS on the season. The under is 5-2-1 in Ragin’ Cajuns games and each of the last three have gone under the total. In Sun Belt play, the under is even better with a record of 4-0-1.
For the Eagles, it’s been a disappointing season both SU and ATS-wise. Georgia Southern is 4-5 SU and 2-7 ATS in 2016 and has failed to cover in six of its last seven. The Eagles covered last week against Ole Miss, but a lot of that was due to star QB Chad Kelly getting hurt.
Matchup to Watch
Louisiana Lafayette has had issues moving the ball all year long. The Ragin’ Cajuns are 107th in the nation in yards per game with an average of 364 YPG and are averaging just 4.87 yards per play, a poor total for a team that runs as many plays as they do.
This team was supposed to be able to wear opponents down on the ground, but that has failed to materialize. This team has been unable to break big gains on the ground and a lot of that has to do with poor offensive line play. The offensive line has given up 23 sacks and QB Anthony Jennings has had to scramble for his life even more than that.
Georgia Southern should be able to effectively contain Louisiana-Lafayette on the ground and that means it’s up to Jennings to move the chains with his arm. He has struggled to do that throughout his collegiate career.
Letdown Lookahead Spot
The good news for the Ragin’ Cajuns is that Georgia Southern has an eye towards next week’s matchup and will still be thinking about last week’s performance against Ole Miss. The Eagles were able to effectively move the ball on the Rebels’ defense throughout the game and never trailed by more than 10 at any point. Multiple times Georgia Southern had to have felt like it was a play or two away from pulling off a stunning upset and that will linger.
Georgia Southern is also going to be eyeing next week’s matchup against Georgia State. Although it is a somewhat new rivalry, it has been heated as these two schools are completely different in almost every way. Georgia State stunned the Eagles last year in Statesboro and Georgia Southern is going to be looking for payback.
Free ATS Pick
This Georgia Southern team may finally be coming together. Saturday’s performance against Ole Miss was its best this season and despite a 4-5 record, the Eagles losses are pretty respectable. Four of the five were on the road and of those two were to teams leading the conference, two were to power five teams, and one was to Western Michigan. The Eagles are certainly better than their record indicated, but how much better?
It feels like this is a bit of a tricky spot for Georgia Southern. Although the Eagles are the better team, it might not fully manifest because of where this game falls in the schedule. With that in mind, grab Louisiana Lafayette and the points.
College Football Odds: Eagles 27, Ragin’ Cajuns 23
