The Miami of Ohio Redhawks have a chance to make history on Tuesday night. The Redhawks started the season 0-6, but have won five in a row since then to not only have a chance at bowl eligibility, but a chance at a MAC East title with a win coupled with an Ohio loss. Standing in their way will be the Ball State Cardinals, a team that has only one win in conference play this season, but has shown signs of life recently.

This matchup in Week 13 of the college football season will take place on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 7 p.m. ET at Fred C. Yager Stadium. This game will be broadcast on ESPN3.

Miami (OH) -8

Odds Analysis

The Cardinals have struggled in MAC play this season, posting a mark of 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS heading into this one. Five of their seven games have gone over the total and they are 4-1 ATS as an underdog this season.

Miami has been on a tear recently against the number. The Redhawks have covered five in a row and are 8-3 ATS on the season. Three of those five consecutive covers were outright wins as an underdog, making bettors even more money.

Player to Watch

Gus Ragland has been the savior for Miami’s season. Ragland didn’t see any action through the first six weeks, but after starting QB Billy Bahl went down with an injury it was Ragland who led the team on its recent run. He has yet to throw an interception since taking over the job, chucking 114 passes thus far without a pick. Ragland has also been able to find paydirt often with 12 passing touchdowns through five games.

In addition to being a solid passer, he has been a decent scrambler when given the chance. Ragland has run for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns this season and that added gives the Redhawks even more of a boost. When he takes on the Cardinals, he’ll be facing one of the worst pass defenses in the country. Ball State is allowing 314 yards a game through the air despite playing only a handful of pass-first teams.

Key Stat

There aren’t many defenses in the MAC that are better than Miami of Ohio. The Redhawks have held opponents to just 347.5 yards a game and have a great front seven. Opponents are averaging just 3.62 yards a carry on this defense and that’s crucial at this time of the season. The weather has started to turn and it’s expected to be cold in Oxford on Tuesday night, so each team will look to run the ball more than usual.

If Ball State does go to the air, it has to watch out for De’Andre Montgomery. Montgomery may have just four interceptions on the season, but is extremely athletic and has shown the ability to take it to the house if he does get his hands on one. He already has two touchdowns this season and a third would be even more sweeter in a win.

Free ATS Pick

It’s always important to watch the weather in these outdoor games in November, but it looks like these teams will only have to deal with the cold. Forecasts are calling for 35-degree weather but little wind and no chance for snow or rain.

Miami is on a tear and it’s pretty hard to go against them. The Redhawks have played solid, mistake-free football and look poised to complete one of the biggest single-year turnarounds ever. Provided Ragland continues to not make mistakes, Miami should be able to get a win and a cover here as well as a very important sixth win.

College Football Odds: Redhawks 28, Cardinals 17
