2016-NCAAF-Kansas-at-Kansas-State-Betting-Lines

The Kansas State Wildcats are coming into this Week 13 game off a big win over Baylor last week and will look to make it two in a row as they take on the Kansas Jayhawks at home. The Jayhawks also captured a win last week, defeating Texas 24-21 in overtime for their second win of the season.

Kansas State has a record of 6-4 and is 3-1 in the last four weeks. Kansas snapped a nine-game losing streak last week but is the big underdog in this one yet again. The Wildcats are excelling down the stretch and would like to strengthen their position in the Big 12 to get a good bowl game.

This contest in Week 13 of the regular season will go down Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 7 p.m. ET at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Odds Analysis

Despite Kansas’ win last time out, the Wildcats are the heavy favorites. They are also the team the gamblers are going in on to cover the spread at a 76 percent clip. It’s not easy to outscore a team by that much but the Jayhawks have been pretty terrible this season.

Kansas is 2-9 straight up and 6-5 against the spread on the season. The Jayhawks have been underdogs in all but two of their games and have covered in four of those nine affairs. Kansas is 1-4 against the spread on the road.

Kansas State is 6-4 straight up and 4-5-1 against the spread. The Wildcats have not done very well as the favorite covering once and pushing another time in six attempts. Kansas State is 1-3-1 against the spread at home this year.

Key Stat

457.5. That’s how many yards per game that opposing offenses are averaging against Kansas this year. Teams are averaging 37.6 points a game against the Jayhawks too.

The lackluster defense has been a big reason that Kansas has not been able to stay competitive this year. Even in last week’s historic win over Texas, the Longhorns managed 403 yards against Kansas.

The Jayhawks are in a conference which features some standout athletes, and has done little to keep them in check.

Player to Watch

Alex Barnes – The Kansas State running back had a breakout game last week, scoring four touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 42-21 win over Baylor. Barnes ended the night with 19 carries for 129 yards, averaging 6.8 yards in the victory, with 18 of those touches coming in the second half.

It was the first game this season that the freshman had more than eight touches in a game and it worked out well against the Bears. Barnes has 46 carries for 339 yards and five touchdowns on the year.

The young player could see increased time again this week after playing so well in Waco. He will likely split time with Jesse Ertz and Charles Jones, who lead the team in rushing yards this season. Kansas could have a tough time slowing all of them down in this one.

Free ATS Pick

Kansas picked up a nice win last time out against Texas, and it may have been the final nail in the coffin of Longhorns coach Charlie Strong’s job. The Jayhawks, though, lack talent and have little chance of pulling off this upset on the road.

Kansas State has several close losses this year and has played many of the better teams in the conference tough. The Wildcats should be able to win this one quite easily, but the spread is too high.

Kansas State won’t be challenged but won’t get out to a big enough lead to cover this spread. The “under” is the correct play on the scoring total.
