The Wyoming Cowboys control their own destiny as they aim to capture the Mountain Division of the Mountain West Conference. The Cowboys can win the tiebreaker over Boise State if they take care of business against the New México Lobos in Week 13 of the college football season.

The oddsmakers don’t foresee it being an easy task as the Cowboys must go on the road and play a quality opponent. Wyoming is a slight favorite but this could go either way. New México would love to spoil the party.

This contest in Week 13 of the regular season will go down Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 10:15 p.m. ET at Branch Field at University Stadium.

Odds Analysis

Wyoming is a slight road favorite and the betting public is backing it to cover this spread. The Cowboys are taking in more than 77 percent of the action.

The scoring total is pretty high but seems accurate as money is coming in equally on each side early in the week.

Wyoming is 8-3 straight up and is also 8-3 against the spread. The Cowboys are 3-2 against the spread this season but have only covered twice in five road games.

New México is 7-4 straight up and 5-5 against the spread this season. The Lobos are 2-2 against the spread as underdogs and have covered in three of five home games this year.

Key Stat

52.6. That’s the average completion percentage of New México’s dual quarterback system. The Lobos split time between senior Austin Apodaca and junior Lamar Jordan, but neither player has been very reliable.

Jordan is the more mobile option while Apodaca has the better arm, but both have struggled with accuracy this season and it’s hurt the Lobos on offense. The pair has thrown for a combined 1,136 yards with ten touchdowns and six interceptions.

Jordan adds another 482 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. The offense is averaging just 108.2 passing yards a game this season. If New México can win this game, the quarterbacks have to play well since Wyoming is a solid foe.

Players to Watch

Tyrone Owens and Teriyon Gipson – The New México running backs make a monster combination in the backfield. The pair has combined for more than 2,000 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground this season and each player is averaging more than eight yards a carry right now.

Last week in the win against Colorado State, Owens was the go-to guy, rushing for 157 yards on just 12 carries with a touchdown. Behind the duo, the Lobos are averaging 342.1 yards a game and have helped makeup for New México’s struggles at quarterback.

Free ATS Pick

Wyoming also has a very good running game, which leads the way for an offense which averages 38.5 points per game. Brian Hill is the leading rusher, with 281 carries for 1,548 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season.

The Cowboys have not been strong defensively and it will be interesting to see if they can slow down the New México ground game.

Wyoming has everything to play for, but it isn’t as good as the record would suggest. Expect the regular season to end in heartbreaking fashion for the Cowboys as New México pulls the upset at home on the strength of their running game.

Even without a solid quarterback, the Lobos should be able to pave big enough holes to find room to run. The Cowboys will be able to score as well in an entertaining affair, but not enough to get the win.

College Football Odds: New México 37, Wyoming 34
