The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns are one win away from bowl eligibility as they head into the regular season finale against the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks. The pressure is on the Ragin’ Cajuns in Week 14 as they aim to emerge victorious in a road game.
Despite heading on the road, Louisiana Lafayette is the favorite in this one as it faces off against an inferior Louisiana Monroe team. The Warhawks don’t have much to play for except pride in this one.

Odds Analysis
Louisiana Lafayette is a solid road favorite and the gamblers believe it will cover that spread, choosing the Ragin’ Cajuns at a 75 percent clip early in the week. The scoring total may be a tad high since more than 80 percent of the money is choosing the “under” for this matchup.
Louisiana Lafayette is a -275 favorite on the moneyline while Louisiana Monroe is a +225 underdog.
UL Lafayette is 5-6 straight up and 7-4 against the spread. The Ragin’ Cajuns have been the favorites in five games this year and covered in three of those.
UL Monroe is 4-7 overall and also 7-4 against the spread. The Warhawks have been the underdog eight times and have covered in five of those chances.
Matchup to Watch
Louisiana Lafayette running back Elijah McGuire against the rushing defense. The Ragin Cajuns’ rusher is one of the most talented players on the field.
He has accumulated 187 carries for 918 yards and six touchdowns on the season. McGuire has surpassed 1,000 yards rushing in each of the past two seasons and looks to be on his way to doing it once again.
McGuire has four 100-yard rushing games this season, with a season-best 223 and a touchdown against South Alabama early in the year.
The Louisiana Monroe rushing defense has been extremely suspect, allowing 265 yards per game. The Warhawks are giving up nearly 40 points per game and it seems like McGuire is in line for a big evening.
Player to Watch
Anthony Jennings – The Louisiana Lafayette quarterback comes into this matchup off a strong performance last week where he threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Jennings threw three interceptions against Georgia two weeks ago, but had three rushing touchdowns in the 35-21 loss.
He also has 300 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on the ground. The senior has thrown for 2,074 yards with 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season.
The dual threat nature of his abilities will put some strain on the UL Monroe defense and it will be interesting to see how he responds.
Free ATS Pick
Louisiana Monroe may only have one fewer win than Louisiana Lafayette this season, but it has been outscored by a much larger margin. The Ragin’ Cajuns are just a win away from bowl eligibility and have been the better team, so it makes sense that they are the favorites.
UL Monroe’s biggest weakness is its defense and it must hold up. The Warhawks have actually won two of their past three games but have been consistently blown out by some of the better teams in the conference.
Don’t let the record fool you in this one. Louisiana Monroe may look just a little bit worse, and the home field advantage would make this one seem just about even. However, UL Lafayette is clearly the superior team and even on the road should be able to take care of business.
The Ragin’ Cajuns won’t just win this game but also cover the spread against inferior competition in this matchup.
