The Troy Trojans will look to cap a memorable regular season when they face off against the Georgia Southern Eagles in Week 14. Troy won just four games a year ago but can reach double-digits with a victory in this one.
Troy is on the heels of Appalachian State in the Sun Belt Conference and defeated them a few weeks ago, so a win would be a boon for its conference title hopes. The Trojans are the road favorites to take care of business against a Georgia Southern team which is under .500 on the year.
This contest in Week 14 of the regular season will go down Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 12 p.m. ET at Allen E. Paulson Stadium.

Odds Analysis
Troy is a sizable road favorite and the bettors like this line as more than 86 percent of the money is coming in on the Trojans to cover. The scoring total has been deemed too high as 85 percent of the early action is choosing the “under” in this matchup.
Troy is a -300 favorite on the moneyline while Georgia Southern is the +240 underdog. More of the money is coming in on the Eagles on the moneyline.
Troy is 9-2 straight up and 7-4 against the spread this season. The Trojans have covered in four of five matchups away from home this season.
Georgia Southern is 4-7 overall and 3-8 against the spread. The Eagles are 1-3 against the spread as the underdog.
Matchup to Watch
Georgia Southern running backs Matt Breida and Kevin Ellison against the Troy rushing defense. Breida and Ellison have carried the load for the Eagles on the ground this season, combining for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns.
The pair will be tested this week, however, facing a Trojans defense that has held opposing offenses to 115.1 yards per game. The running game is key for Georgia Southern so this matchup is important.
Breidan and Ellison lead a rushing attack which has been solid this season, and if it can’t get going Georgia Southern will almost certainly fail to pull the upset.
Player to Watch
Brandon Silver – The Troy quarterback has thrown for 2,727 yards this season with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He got back in the winning column last week, throwing for 218 yards and two touchdowns in the Trojans’ win over Texas State.
Last week’s victory was a nice rebound for Silver after the loss to Arkansas State where he finished without a single touchdown and two interceptions. Silver leads an offense that averages 266.6 passing yards a game and will look to end the season on a high note.
Troy averages 35.1 points per game and if it can hit that number again it should have a great chance of winning this contest. Silver’s leading receiver is Emanuel Thompson, who has 65 catches for 641 yards and five touchdowns on the year.
Free ATS Pick
Georgia Southern has lost four consecutive games and has no chance of making a bowl game, which means there won’t be much motivation on that end.
Troy, meanwhile, still has a lot to play for including the conference title and a better spot for a bowl game. The Trojans are on the road so this won’t be easy, and the spread is a bit too high.
While Troy should capture this game behind the play of Silver and a strong defense, it won’t be easy. Expect Georgia Southern to make this one tough on the Trojans, but in the end Troy’s offense will do enough to squeak out the victory.
Choose the “under” as both defenses have been pretty solid this season.
