The 111th edition of the Red River Rivalry takes place on Saturday as the Texas Longhorns play the Oklahoma Sooners. This Week 6 matchup that will be played at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas can be seen on FS1. The Longhorns have fallen out of the Top 25 while the Sooners are ranked No. 20. Everything seems to be falling apart for Texas as defensive coordinator Vance Beford was demoted and it is rumored that head coach Charlie Strong will be fired after this season. The Sooners are 10.5-point favorites in this contest.
Kickoff for this regular season Week 6 game is set for Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 12 p.m. ET at the Cotton Bowl.

Odds Analysis
The Sooners opened as 10.5-point favorites in this contest and the line has moved up and down as there is no strong opinion on the game. The line briefly dropped to 10 on Sunday night but it was bet back up to 10.5 on Monday morning. The line briefly went to 11 but went back down to 10.5 quickly.
There is no reason to think this line will move much as when it went to 10 it was quickly bet back up to 10.5 and when it was bet up to 11 it quickly went back down to 10.5.
The total is where the action on this game is as it opened at 72 and was bet up to 73.5 and then 74.5. Neither Texas nor Oklahoma has played much defense this season so the only way this number is going is up. Oklahoma is scoring almost 40 points per game and they are giving up about 35 points per contest. Texas has given up 47 points or more in three of their four games. The Longhorns are scoring 41 points per game and allowing 38 points per contest.
Revenge Angle
The Sooners are going to be looking for revenge as Texas was the only team to beat Oklahoma in the regular season a year ago. The Longhorns jumped out to a 14-0 lead against the Sooners last season and held on for a 24-17 victory. It was a shocking win as Oklahoma was a 15-point favorite in that contest.
The Sooners should be able to kick the Longhorns while they are down. Texas started the season well with wins over Notre Dame and UTEP but their defense collapsed in losses to California and Oklahoma State. Charlie Strong is going to take over calling plays for the defense for whatever that is worth.
The Sooners feature a potent offense led by Baker Mayfield and Samaje Perine and they will be ready from the start. “We just gotta come out and set the tone,” Mayfield said. “It’s always a street fight when it comes to (Texas), so we gotta set the tone and be ready to go 15 rounds.”
Key Stat
The Longhorns have not played well in the month of October of late going 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games while the Sooners are 4-0 ATS in their last four games in October. Oklahoma is 7-1 ATS in their last eight conference games.
The Longhorns are 7-3-1 ATS in the last eleven meetings in this series.
This should be a high scoring contest and it is worth noting that four of the last five Texas conference games have gone over. 19 of the last 26 conference games for the Sooners have gone over.
Free ATS Pick
Oklahoma has the superior offense and they are playing with revenge so I will lay the points and take the Sooners.
This should also be a game similar to last week’s contest between the Sooners and Horned Frogs that was very high scoring so I will also play the game over the total.
College Football Odds: Sooners 52, Longhorns 35
