The Florida State Seminoles used a blocked extra point to squeak out a win over the Miami Hurricanes last week. Florida State has some work to do to get back in the hunt for the ACC title, and can’t afford a slip-up in Week 7 against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
Florida State is a top-15 team at home so it should be able to win this game easily, even though Wake Forest is off to an impressive 5-1 start. The Demon Deacons can turn some heads with an upset win which would effectively end Florida State’s conference hopes and keep Wake Forest in the mix.
This contest in Week 7 of the regular season will go down Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. ET at Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Odds Analysis
There isn’t a lot of faith in the Demon Deacons by the oddsmakers, but bettors are really liking the look of this spread. Wake Forest is taking 73 percent of the money to cover as it has some wiggle room by getting 21 points.
The scoring total is low compared to other games but it seems pegged accurately as both the “over” and the “under” are taking in about 50 percent of the action.
Player to Watch
Dalvin Cook - The Florida State running back started relatively slowly, failing to top 100 rushing yards in the first three games of the season. He has dominated of late, totaling 557 yards on the ground over the past three games in wins over South Florida and Miami as well as a loss to North Carolina.
Cook’s best game came against South Florida when he carried the ball 28 times for 267 yards and two touchdowns. He has rushed for 785 yards and is closing in on a third straight 1,000-yard season.
The Demon Deacons are only giving up 118.7 yards per game this season so something will have to give in this one.
Look-ahead situation
Florida State has no more margin for error this season with two losses already. The Seminoles are probably out of the College Football Playoff hunt already, but would be pronounced dead with one more defeat.
They have a gigantic showdown next week with Clemson and gets the game at home. Clemson should be favored in that one but Florida State will have a chance.
It’s human nature to take a peek at that matchup knowing it is next on the schedule. However, Florida State can’t take Wake Forest that lightly. The Demon Deacons haven’t played a hard schedule at all but a 5-1 record is nothing to sneeze at.
Florida State has been accused of playing without passion at times this year and it’s imperative to be completely focused on this week even with Clemson looming.

The Wake Forest defense is only allowing 18 points per game this year and will aim to slow down Florida State. The Demon Deacons are 2-1 in ACC play, but a 33-16 loss to North Carolina State is concerning since the Wolfpack does not have a great team.
The Seminoles looked good last week and deserved to win the game and now will aim to keep it rolling. Early-season losses to Louisville and North Carolina were disappointed, but this is still a talented team.
Cook will lead the way as the Seminoles should roll past a Wake Forest team that’s not as good as its record would suggest. Florida State will cover even though the spread is pretty high, and definitely go with the “over” on this one as Florida State should put some points on the scoreboard.
