The Toledo Rockets are a late BYU field goal away from being 7-0 this season. Jason Candle is showing that he was the right choice to replace Matt Campbell as head coach and the Rockets have been one of the top offenses in the country. Western Michigan may be getting all the love in the MAC West, but Toledo is running right with them, dominating conference opponents. In College Football Week 9 action, Toledo will host the Ohio Bobcats, a team that needs a win to stay in first place in the MAC East.

Odds Analysis
The Bobcats are known for running the ball and being solid defensively and that has led to a lot of low-scoring games this season. Under has now cashed seven straight times and even a total of 43.5 last week wasn’t enough to keep the game from going under. Ohio has also had one of the biggest disparities of home vs. road performances, with a 3-1 SU, 4-0 ATS record on the road and a 2-2 SU, 0-4 ATS record at home.
Toledo started the season hot against the number, covering its first four, but has cooled down since starting MAC play. The Rockets are 1-2 ATS in MAC play thus far and almost lost outright as a 31.5-point favorite against Bowling Green two weeks ago.
Player to Watch
Logan Woodside might just be the most unsung quarterback in the country. He has been phenomenal for the Rockets this season, throwing at least three touchdowns in every game thus far and has completed 72 percent of his passes in each of the last four. Woodside is also averaging 10.69 yards per pass attempt, one of the best numbers in all the land.
Woodside is especially adept at throwing the deep ball. The Rockets lead the nation in passes of 60 yards or more, completing 8 on the season. Toledo has shown a willingness to take shots that many other teams won’t and this far that has been very successful for the Rockets.
Matchup to Watch
As efficient as the Rockets’ offense is when passing, they have been just as adept at stopping opposing quarterbacks. Toledo is allowing quarterbacks to complete just 52.4 percent of their passes this year, one of the top numbers in college football. That has meant that the Rockets have controlled the time of possession battle even though their offense can be quick-strike.
That doesn’t bode well for an Ohio team that has had major issues out of its quarterbacks this season. The Bobcats started the season with Greg Windham under center, but after a solid start in the opener he has been ineffective, completing just a shade over 50 percent of his passes and throwing one less interception than touchdown.
It looks as if Quinton Maxwell will get the start, but he hasn’t played well either. Maxwell played the bulk of the Eastern Michigan and all of last week’s game against Kent State and while he didn’t perform well, coach Frank Solich is hoping the freshman can grasp the offense and perform better than Windham.
Free ATS Pick
Ohio is in a bad spot here. The Bobcats are pretty one-dimensional and keep the ball on the ground as much as they can, but even the run game hasn’t been impressive, averaging just 4.57 yards a carry. It will be tough for them to control the clock and keep the ball out of Toledo’s hands.
The Bobcats are pretty sound defensively, but haven’t faced an offense quite like Toledo’s yet this season. Woodside is fantastic and will have another great day in a big Rockets win.
College Football Odds: Rockets 41, Bobcats 17
