Aaron Rodgers passing props could finally be ripe for overs for Green Bay Packers against Kansas City Chiefs on MNF

Chiefs-at-Packers-Sept24

Aaron Rodgers' props have consistently stayed under the total these first two weeks of the season. However, we think that Monday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs might be the time that the Green Bay Packers' face of the franchise finally gets a huge game under his belt.

READY FOR RODGERS TO EXPLODE

Clearly, Rodgers is just biding his time right now. He hasn't thrown the ball all that much, and we can count on one hand how many times he has tried to throw the ball more than 15 or so yards down the field this year. That's why he has been limited to 189 and 249 yards over the course of his first two games.

Certainly, it isn't helping Rodgers that Jordy Nelson isn't walking through those doors at Lambeau Field after he tore his ACL in the preseason, and we aren't sure that Randall Cobb is totally healthy either.

This, this Kansas City defense has a great front seven and corners which make us scratch our heads just a bit. With Eddie Lacy banged up and questionable to play, Rodgers is going to have to utilize the passing game a bit more.

These Chiefs corners haven't been tested deep yet in two games against the Texans and the Broncos, but this is where it all changes. We definitely foresee at least one big time touchdown for Rodgers in this game, and getting past his passing yardage and total touchdowns props should be cinch as a result. We'd go all the way up to about 295 or so on Rodgers and feel confident playing the over, and we suspect there will be at least three, if not four passing touchdowns when this one is said and done with, too.

SACKS COULD BE PLENTIFUL ON MONDAY

With additional passes comes more sacks, and that could be a fact in prop betting for Monday Night Football as well. The sack total will probably be around five, give or take a half sack or so, and with all of the great pass rushers on display in this one, we see the opportunity there for a lot of problems.

When Green Bay has the ball, the formula here is simple. Justin Houston has three sacks in two games, and he is going to be matched up against David Bakhtiari, who has been a sieve at times against elite pass rushers this year. Advantage: Kansas City.

On the other side of the ball though, the reason we think there are going to be some more sacks in this game is because Alex Smith is simply going to have to do more than he has been asked to do thus far this season. Even when he has played from ahead in two games, he has still been sacked six times.

We grant you, J.J. Watt, Von Miller and Demarcus Ware aren't going to be coming off of the edge to come get Smith in this one, but Julius Peppers has been great to start off this season, and the return of B.J. Raji after missing all of last year has already been felt.

Jamaal Charles' psyche is still questionable after he fumbled away the game last week against Denver. Yes, he's had a week and a half to get it out of his mind, but we suspect that the ball won't be in his hands as often as he would like in this one as a result.

If you can get over even 5.5 sacks at a decent price, we would suggest doing it on Monday Night Football.
