Chicago Bears the first to take on Green Bay Packers without Jordy Nelson in Week 1 on FOX

The Green Bay Packers suffered one of the worst injury losses in the offseason when Jordy Nelson went down with a torn ACL.

They'll bring their new wide receivers into battle in the Windy City on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

WHEN THE GREEN BAY PACKERS HAVE THE BALL

Not having Nelson may or may not be the end of the world. The Packers could have a star in the making in Davante Adams. This also might end up being okay due to the fact that Aaron Rodgers is awesome.

For all of the teams who Green Bay could play in this one, Chicago might be the best in the NFL. Rodgers' history against the Bears has been insane. He's 11-3 in 14 regular season games with 3,448 yards and 31 TDs against eight picks. Last season, Rodgers threw 10 touchdowns without an interception, and his quarterback rating was literally perfect.

It's tough to imagine that a Green Bay team which has put up at least 20 points in eight straight games against the Bears with Rodgers under center isn't going to be able to do that again in this one. Scoring should happen on at least half of the Packers' drives, and that's what live bettors really need to remember, with or without Nelson.

Keep in mind though, that Cobb and Ty Montgomery are both dealing with minor injuries. With Nelson already out of the fold, the Packers can't afford any more in the way of injuries to their wide receivers no matter how good Rodgers is.

WHEN THE CHICAGO BEARS HAVE THE BALL

Jay Cutler only really had four weapons last season in the passing game. One of those weapons, Brandon Marshall is now playing with the Jets, and Matt Forte probably isn't going to be as effective as a receiver now that Marc Trestman is no longer calling plays.

As a result, we suspect we're going to see an offense revolving around Alshon Jeffrey. Jeffrey is a stud, but with Kevin White out for possibly the entire season, there aren't a lot of receiving options out there for the Bears. It's also a concern that Jeffrey has a calf problem which the team has been surprisingly mum about.

We really are stuck wondering if Chicago is going to have any offense going. Forte is probably going to be used a little more in the rushing game than the passing game, and that could really slow down the Bears. Remember too, that this is a team which scored more than 21 points just once after its bye week last year, a 41-28 loss to the Cowboys here at Soldier Field.

TREND TO TRACK

Live bettors need to look at nothing but the history of these two teams to see where to go in this one. Yes, the Packers are square for sure, but they have dominated in this series, winning 12 games in a row against the Bears including the postseason.

What's really notable is how fast the Packers have broken out in these games against Chicago. They were up 42-0 in the second game of the season last year between these teams just before halftime, and they had over 400 yards of offense amassed in that span.

They already had three touchdowns on the board in the first clash of the year here at Soldier Field, and that was before things really fell apart for the Bears.

Live bettors should be ready to react immediately when the Packers get their hands on the football at the first sight of Cobb and Montgomery on the field, knowing that they are very likely to be scoring before too much time elapses.
